Job Summary/Description:

WFSB is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Weekday Evening News Anchor who wants to lead both in the studio, across digital and social platforms, and in our community.

This role requires far more than reading a teleprompter. We need a seasoned journalist, an authentic newsroom leader, and a multi-platform storyteller. You will serve as an integral part of our cutting-edge live streaming and digital initiatives, connecting with audiences wherever they consume news.
The ideal candidate thrives when breaking news hits, anchoring coverage unscripted with composure, authority, and depth. In addition to anchor duties, this person is an active, aggressive reporter who breaks stories and an ambassador who is deeply invested in the local community, representing WFSB at public events and station initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Anchor & Lead: Co-anchor weekday evening newscasts with authority, authenticity, and strong editorial judgment.
• Master Breaking News: Steer live continuous breaking news coverage without a script, contextualizing fast-moving developments clearly and accurately.
• Drive NextGen & Streaming News: Play an active role on our live streaming platforms, producing and hosting innovative, digital-first content.
• Original Reporting: Enterprise and report impactful stories for evening broadcasts, web, and streaming platforms.
• Community Ambassador: Actively engage with the community we serve, representing WFSB at station functions, public appearances, and community events.
• Digital & Social Engagement: Maintain an active, professional presence on digital and social channels to build community connection and expand audience reach.
• Collaborate & Mentor: Work closely with producers, executive producers, and reporters to elevate day-to-day newscast quality and newsroom culture.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven television news anchoring experience in a competitive market.
• Live Skills: Exceptional ability to handle unscripted live breaking news coverage.
• Dual Skillset: Demonstrated track record as both a compelling anchor and an enterprise reporter.
• Community Presence: Passion for public engagement and a desire to be visible and involved in local initiatives.
• Digital Savvy: Active and proficient across major digital and social media platforms.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field strongly preferred.
• Employment Status: Must be available for full-time employment, including weekday evening shifts, special events, and breaking news as needed.
