Network Operations Technician – Make an Immediate Impact on Air Force Network Modernization

The Opportunity

Step into a role where your technical expertise directly strengthens critical Air Force missions across CONUS installations. As a Network Operations Technician, you’ll be at the heart of large-scale network modernization efforts—keeping newly deployed infrastructure secure, stable, and performing at its best.

In this fast-paced Network Operations Center (NOC) environment, you will troubleshoot complex issues, safeguard enterprise systems, and help drive the success of cutting‑edge network upgrades. If you’re passionate about solving problems, improving performance, and ensuring mission continuity, this role offers the chance to meaningfully support national defense initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and analyze legacy and modernized network performance, identifying deviations from baseline behavior and taking action to resolve issues.

  • Create and respond to incident tickets, conduct technical triage, and follow established SOPs and knowledge articles to restore service.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software infrastructure issues across servers, storage, user systems, routers, switches, and security appliances.

  • Perform system administration tasks and maintain strong security posture for assigned infrastructure.

  • Apply IAVA patches, OS upgrades, and security updates to maintain compliance and system integrity.

  • Support ongoing infrastructure and network modernization projects, including configuration management and lifecycle refresh activities.

  • Maintain thorough and accurate configuration documentation.

  • Execute Cisco (or equivalent) software upgrades and develop/apply configuration templates for switches and routers.

  • Investigate network faults, accessibility issues, and performance anomalies to drive root cause analysis.

  • Monitor network status, track outages, and leverage TTPs and SOPs to efficiently close tickets.

  • Provide training on network operations procedures as needed.

  • Support engineering data calls and assist with new network installation, implementation, and technical refresh efforts.

  • Work independently with moderate supervision while handling network ticket resolution and administrative access tasks.

  • Route service requests appropriately and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely incident resolution.

Qualifications

Required

  • An active DoD Secret Clearance.

  • BA/BS in a technical field, or High School diploma/Associate degree with 7+ years of experience as a Network Operations Technician supporting large, complex networks in a NOC environment.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree.

Desired

  • Experience supporting DoD programs, particularly network modernization initiatives.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.
