Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer - Project Lead - Telephony to provide operational and advanced telephony administration for an enterprise communication environment. This role has been created to support increased workload during an organizational reorganization and will serve as a key project lead for telephony engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Avaya on-premises PBX systems, VoIP, unified communications, SIP, RTP, QoS, call routing, voice gateways, and telecommunications infrastructure. The successful candidate will help maintain system stability, resolve complex technical issues, implement improvements, and support enterprise telephony and unified communications services.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide operational and advanced telephony administration, including move, add, change, and disconnect requests for enterprise communication services.
• Support and administer Avaya on-premises PBX systems and enterprise telephony environments.
• Administer VoIP and unified communications platforms to ensure reliable voice services.
• Maintain accurate 911 and E911 location information and support related services.
• Provide advanced technical support for telephony projects and serve as a project lead for engineering tasks.
• Research, design, maintain, and implement improvements to the enterprise telephony network.
• Configure, install, maintain, and troubleshoot telephony hardware and related infrastructure.
• Analyze and troubleshoot SIP, RTP, QoS, dial plans, call routing, and voice gateway technologies.
• Analyze and evaluate vector routing, ARS routing tables, and route patterns to ensure efficient call routing and system operation.
• Troubleshoot voice quality issues, carrier connectivity problems, call routing issues, and E911 services.
• Support telecommunications infrastructure, including voice circuits, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and PSTN integrations.
• Work with telecommunications vendors to coordinate circuit provisioning, service changes, and outage resolution.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues involving enterprise telephony and unified communications.
• Provide engineer-level technical support for enterprise voice and unified communications systems.
• Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of telephony and unified communications systems.
• Develop and maintain technical standards, processes, procedures, and configuration documentation.
• Perform quality assurance testing for telephony configurations, changes, and implementations.
• Monitor telephony and unified communications systems to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
• Support maximum system uptime and reliability while following established incident management and change management processes.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, infrastructure, network, security, and operations teams to support enterprise communication services.
Required Qualifications
• Must be a South Carolina resident or willing to relocate to South Carolina prior to starting the role at their own expense.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting Avaya on-premises PBX systems.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience administering VoIP and unified communications platforms.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with SIP, RTP, QoS, dial plans, call routing, and voice gateway technologies.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting voice quality issues, carrier connectivity, call routing, and E911 services.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure, including voice circuits, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and PSTN integrations.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across enterprise telephony and unified communications environments.
• Ability to lead technical tasks and serve as an escalation point for complex telephony issues.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, voice routing, and enterprise communication systems.
• Ability to work effectively with vendors, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
