Job SummaryThe Network Engineer IV is responsible for administration, monitoring, and support all aspects of the network infrastructure including deployment, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting high complexity WAN/LAN/Switching/ Routing issues. The Network Engineer IV will design and create Layer 2/3 network architectures for hybrid environments. In addition, the Network Engineer IV will analyze current processes and procedures for possible improvement as well as develop and maintain documentation of their assigned environment. The Network Engineer IV is the primary IT contact for Reliance business units and will provide escalation response for issues.
The Network Engineer IV serves as the technical resource for secure network design, managing standards, patterns, and reference architectures across WAN, LAN, data center, cloud, and network security domains. This role partners closely with information security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure consistent, secure, and well-documented implementations.
This role operates as a security-aligned Engineer reporting into the Office of the CISO and is accountable for administering and supporting hybrid network architectures spanning on-premise data centers and public cloud environments. The Network Engineer IV will contribute to designing resilient, secure connectivity supporting mission-critical applications hosted across redundant data centers and AWS and Azure cloud platforms, serving more than 300 branch locations. All network designs must align with Zero Trust architecture principles and enterprise security strategy.

Job FunctionNetwork Architecture & Design- Design and implement advanced enterprise network architectures, including Layer 2/3, WAN, multi-region data center, and cloud-connected environments aligned with business and availability requirements
- Contribute to the development and evolution of enterprise network architectures, standards, and design patterns
- Engineer secure hybrid network solutions spanning on-premises data centers and public cloud platforms (AWS and Microsoft Azure)
- Design scalable and resilient network solutions supporting distributed application environments across 300+ branch locations
- Implement secure connectivity patterns between branch, data center, and cloud environments, including routing, segmentation, inspection, and resiliency models
- Apply Zero Trust principles within network designs, including least-privilege access, segmentation, and identity-aware controls
- Evaluate existing network environments and recommend improvements to enhance performance, security, and operational efficiency
- Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical input on complex or high-risk initiatives
- Ensure engineering deliverables align with established enterprise architecture, security, and cloud strategies
Security Architecture Focus- Implement security controls within network designs, including firewall policies, segmentation, encryption, and secure remote access solutions
- Support the integration of Zero Trust principles into network engineering solutions in alignment with enterprise security strategy
- Configure and deploy identity-aware networking solutions, device posture validation, and contextual access controls
- Implement trust boundaries, inspection points, and enforcement controls across hybrid environments
- Collaborate with Information Security teams to ensure adherence to security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Engineer secure connectivity solutions for data, voice, video, cloud, and third-party services
- Support migration efforts to modernize legacy networks and reduce technical debt
Standards, Governance, & Lifecycle Support- Contribute to the development and maintenance of network standards, reference architectures, and lifecycle strategies
- Implement and adhere to AWS and Azure network design standards, including routing, connectivity, and segmentation
- Evaluate network technologies and provide recommendations based on performance, scalability, and lifecycle considerations
- Support network integration activities for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
- Document designs, configurations, and implementation procedures to ensure consistency and supportability
- Ensure implemented solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with business and technical requirements
Technical Leadership & Collaboration- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex network engineering and operational issues
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers during design and implementation activities
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Translate business and technical requirements into practical, secure network implementations
- Lead or support implementation efforts for large-scale or complex network initiatives
Technical Support- Ability to understand internal/external customer technologies and problem resolution techniques.

- Apply knowledge to identify and proactively respond to high complexity problems

- Administer, monitor, repair, and support all aspects of the Network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and correct high complexity problems that affect operation of the environment
- Develop and maintain documentation of their assigned environment

- Conducts analysis for possible improvements, prepares reports, and works on project implementation.
- Provide support, troubleshoot, installation and configuration of routers, switches, SDWAN, firewalls, access-points, network management applications, datacenter fabric (spine and leaf), and related technologies
- Evaluate new technology as potential solutions to address existing problems
- Provide deployment, implementation and operation services of Cisco, Arista, Aruba, and Palo Alto
- Support data, voice, and video traffic on a converged network. Conduct analysis to ensure productivity improvement and functionality of associated network services. Perform complex technical analysis of packet captures.

Required Skills- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field required
- 7+ years' experience in engineering and supporting large, enterprise class, multisite network deployments required
- 7+ years' experience with deploying and supporting voice, video, and data in a multi-tenant environment required
- 5+ years' experience with telecom/data carrier provisioning, billing, and troubleshooting procedures required
- 5+ years' experience with QoS, BGP, MP-BGP, EIGRP, and SDWAN preferred
- 3+ years' experience with software vendors such as Cisco ISE, NetFlow, and Wireshark preferred
- 3+ years' experience with current best practices in IT standards, principles, and security practices preferred
- 3+ years' experience supporting a multi-facility environment preferred
- Expert-level experience with Cisco routers and switches in a multi-VRFs environment required
- Hands-on experience designing enterprise AWS and Microsoft Azure network architectures, including hybrid connectivity to on-premises data centers
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills

- Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels within an organization

- Working knowledge and experience in layer 2 switching, Spanning-tree, port-security, port-fast, BPDU, loop-guard, and root-guard required.
- Proficient Knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet technologies, IP routing and routing protocols, multicast, Unix/Linux systems, network security technologies and enterprise network architectures
- Basic knowledge working with Packet Analysis and network monitoring tools
- Terraform or similar experience is a plus
Compensation RangeThe anticipated compensation for this position is USD $118,229.00/Yr. - USD $157,438.00/Yr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
