Job ResponsibilitiesNetwork AdministratorThe Department of Administration's Office of Technology and Information Services is the state's central provider of IT services to state government agencies. We are growing and now is a great time to join State Government! We are seeking a talented Network Administrator to join our team. This role is an integral part of our Network Services team. As a Network Administrator, you will provide support to State Agencies, institutions, and vendors in the design of voice, video, and data services. You will assist in creating and updating reports for supported agencies regarding network usage and network design and ensures accurate billing of services for offerings.
Responsibilities of the Network Administrator:- Identify resources for design of voice, video, and data networks for increased network efficiency and make recommendations to internal stakeholders, state agencies, and local entities.
- Responsible for researching and gathering vendor quotes to meet technology needs ensuring services meet our customer service needs. Constant alignment with Procurement team for accurate purchasing of the needed technologies.
- Analyze and determine the need for bandwidth upgrades, network expansions, and enhancements by working with Network Integration, Network Security, Account Management, and Network Service vendors.
- Assist with circuit ordering and coordinate with vendors for circuit installations and modifications.
- Determine feasibility, cost, and equipment needs for implementation of network projects through equipment and service orders, verbal and written communications, field inspections, and agency reports.
- Responsible for regular briefings and written project updates for Leadership.
- Support Network Integration and Network Security by working with operations group on management of asset inventory.
- Responsible for telephone performance and troubleshooting for OTIS.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network devices to ensure quality services are delivered to state and local governments.
- This position is considered to be essential because it supports network integration and network security as well as Emergency Support Function #2. You will perform other related duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements - A bachelor's degree related to Information Technology and at least two (2) years of relevant experience working in a large, complex network environment.
- Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements:- Knowledge and technical expertise of Cisco and other major network vendor equipment.
- Ability to analyze data and provide solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to prepare technical and user-friendly reports in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to establish working relationships with users and vendors.
- CJIS certification is required to be attained upon hire and maintained.
- Position may require work beyond the 37.5-hour work week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must carry a mobile communications device if provided.
- Work may be required on-site or remote or a combination of both.
