Position Summary
The Site Inspection Superintendent, is responsible for overseeing inspection operations for Acuren at the Syncrude Site, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of inspection services supporting maintenance activities, turnarounds, capital projects, and day-to-day operations. This role provides operational leadership for site personnel, maintains strong client relationships, and ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures. The Site Superintendent reports directly to the Division Manager.

Responsibilities
- Allocate and coordinate NDE personnel, equipment, and resources to support multiple work scopes and client priorities.
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily NDE operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality requirements.
- Provide leadership and promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Implement and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop NDE personnel while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all inspection activities comply with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and company procedures.
- Maintain certification records and verify technician qualifications, ensuring personnel certifications remain current and compliant with client and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate inspection schedules with clients, operations, maintenance, and other contractors to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing technical support, timely communication, and responsive service.
- Participate in scope reviews, estimate preparation, work planning, and billing reviews to ensure accurate project execution and cost recovery.
- Investigate operational, quality, and safety issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Address employee and client concerns, escalating issues as appropriate and collaborating with Human Resources on employee matters while keeping the Division Manager informed.
- Ensure NDE equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and available to support operational requirements.
- Collaborate with other divisions and departments to support integrated service delivery and business objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination methods, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Visual Testing (VT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), or other applicable inspection techniques.
- Thorough understanding of applicable industry codes, standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements (CSA, ASME, API, ASTM, CGSB, etc.).
- Knowledge of Acuren’s inspection and integrity management services.
- Strong understanding of client operations, maintenance programs, and inspection requirements.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing technical teams in industrial environments.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing client demands.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with employees, clients, and stakeholders.
- Experience with project planning, estimating, scheduling, labour forecasting, budgeting, and cost control.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, inspection procedures, engineering drawings, and client specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable inspection reporting and management software.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, applicable regulations, and Acuren's Safety and Quality Management Systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- CGSB certification in two or more NDT methods is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience in an industrial NDE environment is preferred.
- Combination of technical education, industry certifications, and relevant operational experience will be considered.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
