Purpose

The National Strategic Accounts Manager (SAM) is responsible for developing and leading BVI's US strategic account strategy across private equity-backed ophthalmology platforms, government and institutional healthcare systems, and key academic institutions.

This role will establish the vision, governance, account segmentation framework, and performance standards for BVI's Strategic Accounts organization. The SAM will partner closely with regional commercial leaders, marketing, clinical affairs, KOL/professional education, operations, customer service, and executive leadership to accelerate enterprise growth, expand portfolio adoption, improve customer experience, and strengthen executive-level customer relationships.

The position will focus on building long-term partnerships that increase BVI's influence across surgeon training programs, academic institutions, ophthalmology networks, private equity platforms, and strategic healthcare systems while creating scalable growth opportunities across the entire BVI portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement BVI's global strategic account strategy and governance model.
• Establish strategic account segmentation and prioritization criteria across:
  • Private Equity-backed Ophthalmology Platforms
  • Government and Institutional Healthcare Systems
  • Enterprise Ophthalmology Organizations
  • Key Academic Centers of Excellence
• Lead executive-level engagement with key strategic customers and enterprise stakeholders.
• Develop executive sponsorship programs and annual business review processes.
• Create enterprise growth plans that drive expansion and cross selling opportunities across:
  • IOLs
  • Cataract and VR Surgical Consumables
  • Glaucoma Technologies
  • Future Innovation Platforms (Cat/VR Platforms)
• Establish Centers of Excellence and reference site programs.
• Develop academic partnerships, fellow and resident engagement programs, and future surgeon initiatives.
• Partner with commercial leadership to identify standardization and platform expansion opportunities across strategic customers.
• Collaborate with Upstream and Downstream Marketing, KOL/Professional Education, Operations, Finance, Corporate Contracting and Customer Service to ensure coordinated customer engagement and execution.
• Serve as executive sponsor for strategic account escalations and customer experience improvement initiatives.
• Monitor strategic account performance metrics and communicate progress through executive reporting and business reviews.

Qualification

  • 5+ years of experience with strong understanding of ophthalmology, healthcare systems, and enterprise healthcare organizations.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic account programs across multiple regions and markets.
  • Proven ability to build executive-level customer relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong business planning, financial analysis, and strategic thinking skills.
