Your role
We're looking for a Municipal Credit Strategist to:
• Provide municipal credit coverage across various sectors including utilities (electric and water/sewer), transportation (toll roads/airports), private higher education, and select high profile and special-situation credits.
• Provide timely and independent municipal research via written commentary, presentations, and client-facing materials.
• Communicate and present research findings via podcasts and video, as needed.
• Apply financial models alongside seasoned credit judgment to assess relative value, downside risk, and structural protections.
• Offer in-depth coverage of specific credits during periods of market stress, reprioritizing quickly as events unfold.
• Work closely with municipal sales and financial advisors to deliver timely, actionable credit views.
• Respond efficiently to inbound inquiries, balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Your team
We are seeking an experienced Municipal Credit Strategist to provide broad, judgment-driven municipal credit coverage across multiple sectors. This role blends sector modeling with qualitative credit analysis and requires the ability to respond quickly and decisively in fast-moving, headline-driven markets. The position offers meaningful independence and flexibility, having a direct impact on investment decisions. The candidate will serve as the primary contact across various sectors for municipal credit insights on a small team within the Chief Investment Office of UBS.
Your expertise
• ideally 5-10+ years of meaningful experience in municipal credit analysis with exposure across multiple sectors.
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; comfort working with sector-level models.
• Proficiency with Bloomberg and credit analytics platforms; coding skills a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex credit work into clear conclusions.
• Series 7, 52, and 66 licenses required (or willingness to obtain).
• Sound credit instincts and judgment, particularly under pressure.
• Highly organized, responsive, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative team player who works well with advisors, team members and sales partners.
• Confident, outward-facing communicator with strong relationship and marketing skills.
Salary information
The indicative gross base salary range as a full-time equivalent role:
• United States - New York - New York min USD 140000 - max USD 180000 /annum
