Job Description:
The VP, Portfolio Operations, AI will play a key role in driving AI-enabled value creation across the firm's portfolio companies. This individual will be responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies, and developing strategies leveraging AI/GenAI to enhance the company's performance. Partnering closely with the portfolio company’s leadership team, and other leaders within Portfolio Ownership, the VP will assess how emerging AI technologies can be leveraged to automate workflows, optimize decision-making, and unlock new growth opportunities. This role requires a strategic, data-driven leader, with a strong understanding of AI applications and business transformation, as well as the ability to develop and execute innovative solutions that maximize enterprise value.


Responsibilities
Partner with investment teams to evaluate and underwrite deals through the lens of AI, data, and product strategy
Assess target companies’ AI capabilities and product maturity
Analyze how AI can drive value creation, efficiency, and competitive advantage Build and refine models and investment cases with minimal oversight
Support deal execution with clear, tech-focused narratives and stakeholder materials
Conduct business and financial analysis to inform investment insights
Help portfolio companies identify and implement high-impact AI and product
initiatives
Evaluate product strategies, roadmaps, and experimentation practices
Collaborate with executives, product leads, and technical teams across MSCP and its portfolio
Translate technical concepts into commercially relevant insights
Track emerging trends in AI and digital innovation to inform firmwide strategy
Contribute to internal efforts that embed AI thinking across the firm

Interfaces with:
This role will report directly to the Managing Director while collaborating closely with other leaders across the firm (both in the portfolio operations team and investors) in addition to senior leadership across portfolio companies to drive technology adoption efforts.

Qualifications:
Strategy Consulting Experience: The ideal candidate has 2-6+ years of
experience from a top-tier management consulting firm, in a post-MBA role, with a demonstrated track record of success.
Relevant Industry Exposure: The ideal candidate has experience working in or
partnering with either business services or consumer services organizations, from consulting or industry.
Relevant Functional Exposure: In addition to consulting experience, the ideal
candidate will have a proven track record of leading AI strategy and adoption
projects in relevant businesses to the MSCP portfolio.
Structured & Logical Thinking: Superior critical thinking skills are critical to this
role, including the ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and demonstrate a “nose for value” to discern what is important and draw valid conclusions.
Analytical Aptitude: person must possess the ability to run and manage highly
complicated quantitative analysis in a defect-free manner to support strategic
recommendations. A top-notch Excel toolkit is required.
Executive Presence: Effective interpersonal and communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with both the C-Suite and Technical Leadership.
Recognizing the level of exposure to senior executives that accompanies this role, the right candidate must have excellent influencing skills, plus an exceptional ability to build relationships.
Technical Aptitude and Curiosity: The right fit candidate has a genuine passion for realizing the potential of AI, as well as the technical understanding of its capabilities to effectively influence both business and technical stakeholders.

Personal Qualifications:
The candidate selected for this position will be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning. This person will also need to be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment. He/she must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel. This professional must demonstrate strong leadership skills, best demonstrated by the individual’s ability to gain credibility with team members and senior management.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $225,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
