Job description

The Boeing 787 program, with three variants in production, constitutes one of the most important programs for Safran LS in recent history. The main components are manufactured in each of Safran LS's manufacturing sites and the supply chain includes many of Safran's principal suppliers across the globe. As such the activities in the 787 MRE team are varied and will provide a satisfying level of challenge for the successful candidate. With the large order book for the 787, the growing number of aircraft in service and the constant drive to increase the cost effectiveness of our parts, the MRE function will grow increasingly important as the program matures.
Working as a member of the Design and Analysis group (D&A)
Reporting to the Integrated Product Team (IPT) - Engineering Group Leader (EGL)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Evaluation of non-conformances on detail parts and assembly level within the technical and procedural requirements of the 787 Program Material Review Board (MRB) Delegation granted by Boeing.
• Investigation of design and manufacturing difficulties, and initiation and document Requests for Design Modification.
• Ensure that lessons learned are applied to any new design.
• Ensure that a common design approach is followed using harmonized standards.
• Support of investigation of landing gear performance issues.
• Interpretation and adaptation of stress and performance analyses.
• Enthusiastic participation in IPT activities.
• Liaison with external suppliers/customers in addition to communicating internally with various disciplines including Stress, Dynamics, Quality, Product Support, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Programs etc.
• Progression from Limited to Full MRE Authority as granted by Boeing.
• Availability to support after-hours Aircraft On Ground (AOG) and production support on a rotating, on-call basis (via cellphone, remote access and on-site support).
• Mentoring of less experienced team members.
• D&A group employs dynamic resourcing; may require supporting other program(s) depending on the program schedule.
• Other company/engineering related activities as required.

Candidate skills & requirements
• Engineering Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. The Engineering degree must be from an accredited program recognized by the Washington Accord or must be recognized by a national accrediting body from within the issuing country.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in the aerospace industry, preferably landing gear and/or systems design or integration.
• Proficient with the design, modeling, tolerance stack-up analysis and dimensional and geometric tolerancing of aerospace products to ASME Y14.5M-1994.
• Proven capability in the use of CATIA V5 including solid modeling, kinematics and 2D layouts.
• Attention to details, ability to listen and communicate with other personnel.
• Ability to work well both individually and as part of the team.
