Full Job Description
Wealthfront is seeking a senior mortgage loan closer/funder to join our team as we build and scale our mortgage lending operations. As a key player on the team you will leverage your expertise to deliver exceptional service to clients, ensuring a smooth and efficient closing and funding experience. You will guide clients through the final steps of their home loan journey; ensuring accuracy, compliance and a seamless closing transaction. You will also help shape the systems behind the process, partnering with engineering and our vendor partners to enhance document generation, funding and investor delivery. Responsibilities • Serves as the final operational check for final documents and funding, managing complex disbursements and ensuring adherence to internal financial controls • Manages the closing workflow, ensuring timely package generation, accurate fee reconciliation and adherence to TRID timelines across the team • Prepares and reviews CDs, loan documents and escrow instructions to ensure compliance with federal, state and investor guidelines • Manages the full funding process, executing wire requests, funding review and authorization • Leads complex closing transactions, acting as subject matter expert on loan documentation, compliance and funding • Utilizes expert knowledge of investor purchase conditions and post-closing QC findings to guide the team and implement preventative measures to ensure salability • Supports post-closing functions as needed including investor condition clearing, trailing document follow-up and purchase suspense resolution • Coordinates with title companies, escrow agents and borrowers to facilitate the closing process • Collaborates across processing, origination, post-closing, compliance and legal to ensure adherence to evolving regulations • Partners with engineering and vendor implementation teams on closing and funding system projects, including requirements definition, configuration validation, user acceptance testing and post-release issue triage • Supports the team on daily closing, funding and post-closing activity, serving as the first point of triage for escalations involving title, escrow, compliance, funding and investor conditions • Proactively maintains loan pipeline, tasks and objectives, prioritizing workload to meet critical deadlines across a high volume of loan activity with a high degree of accuracy • Adopts Company values in work behaviors, decision making, contributions and interpersonal interactions • Contributes to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous development, collaboration, creativity and fun Expertise • Customer-focused, business-centric and team-oriented mindset; relentlessly passionate about finding and completing valuable work • Advanced working knowledge of federal and state regulations including TRID and state-level disclosure requirements • Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaboratively • Excellent organizational skills, able to set and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners and influence positive outcomes at all levels of an organization • Intellectually curious and interested in applying technology to enhance business processes • Experience collaborating with implementation teams, engineering and vendors • Openness to adapting to industry changes Requirements • 4+ years mortgage loan closing and funding experience in a Senior or Team Leader capacity, including hands-on post-closing exposure such as investor conditions, trailing documents and purchase suspense resolution • Experience in a broker or correspondent environment a plus • Experience preparing wire orders and conducting funding authorization reviews • Proficiency in LOS systems, document preparation software and closing platforms • Proficiency reading and interpreting XML and MISMO files • Working knowledge of take-out investor delivery and purchase requirements, and of warehouse line funding workflows • Experience training and mentoring others • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Estimated annual salary range: $84,000 - $105,000 plus equity and a discretionary bonus.
