We are seeking a highly skilled
Mission Critical Customer Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer support, driving customer satisfaction, and leading proactive quality management efforts for our most critical customers and applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of quality systems and control processes, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and effective communication skills to work cross-functionally, resolve issues efficiently, and ensure customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong understanding of equipment performance, Critical To Quality (CTQ) elements and provide key functional elements that drive the customer experience.
- Facilitate and complete Root Cause Analysis work across multiple functions to ensure corrections can be made to improve component reliability and product performance.
- Utilize various tools to evaluate the effectiveness of our Mission Critical function including Gemba, management reviews, internal audits, product audits feedback from internal and external customers, warranty data, and traceability, etc.
- Work well with colleagues and produce results within a fast-paced and high-pressure atmosphere. Combine strong attention to detail with an orientation towards results/execution.
- Create, maintain, and report daily, weekly and/or monthly KPIs
- Capable of using inspection tools and knowledgeable with manufacturing processes.
- Able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously; able to engage cross functional team as needed,
- Facilitate supplier, reliability, and improvements back to new product and project introduction launch phases.
- Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate associates and to interact with various departments throughout the organization
- Team oriented proactive with a hands-on, collaborative approach in implementing and maintaining operating disciplines while leveraging Quality & Lean methodologies
- Problem solving techniques, process improvement tools, statistical and sampling techniques, SPC, process capability, traceability, control points
- Project management and planning tools, measuring and monitoring of project activities and project documentation. Proficiency in information technology systems utilized in Quality Management Systems and process
- Serve as the primary point of contact for managing all elements of customer service related to our manufacturing operations.
- Ensure the ongoing accuracy and effectiveness of the FMEA and control plan documents.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints and non-conformity issues in a timely manner, implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
- Provide enhanced post sale support, including root cause analysis, of all key customer equipment purchases.
- Act as primary liaison for customer site visits to the manufacturing plant.
- Conduct regular quality assessments to identify and address potential process/product issues that may impact customer satisfaction.
- Drive continuous improvements in quality systems, processes, and procedures to enhance customer satisfaction and minimize defects.
- Lead regular report outs to sales and quality teams regarding top issues and follow-up activities. This would include customer facing presentations as required
- Visit customer sites to conduct quality audits, support customer teams in quality-related discussions, and document findings in detailed reports that translate customer feedback and audit results into actionable improvement plans for the manufacturing plant.
- Knowledge of various quality system methodologies; CAR/8D, 5 Why's, Pareto Analysis, DFMEA, PFEMA, PPAP, APQP, etc. is a must.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a Quality/Manufacturing Engineering role, preferably with a focus on customer-specific requirements.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, tools, and techniques (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
- Excellent understanding of customer-specific quality standards and requirements.
- Proficient in quality assurance methodologies, including failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys). Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing customer relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey quality-related information to internal teams and external customers.
