Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in plant equipment.

  • Operate and understand packaging equipment operations and repairs.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Perform various welding processes including arc and TIG welding.
  • Install and calibrate instrumentation and process controls.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks, both manually and using computer systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper use of safety equipment.
  • Calibrate and adjust plant weighing and printing equipment.
  • Fabricate simple machine parts as needed.

TITLE:                             Millwright

LOCATION:                    Onsite in Scarborough, ON

SHIFT & HOURS:          Night Shift: Sunday to Thursday from 10:30pm to 6:30am

Hiring Hourly Rate:     $44.20 per hour

Griffith Foods is hiring a Millwright to report to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager to work as part of a high performing team to support the continuous and efficient production of a food manufacturing facility through preventative maintenance as well as responsive troubleshooting.

As a Millwright, your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzes and rectifies mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems relevant to plant equipment, production machines.

  • Applies and uses machine and testing equipment necessary to rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.

  • Operates and understands the basic principles of operation and repair of packaging equipment and related materials used.

  • Reads, interprets, and understands mechanical, electrical and pneumatic schematic diagrams.

  • Performs and has proper understanding of welding process (i.e., arc welding, TIG welding, plasma cutter/welding, oxy-acetylene welding and brazing, and soldering process).

  • Installs, sets up, and calibrates different instrumentation, process systems and controls.

  • Performs and records all preventative maintenance functions, both manual and computer base operations.

  • Adheres to safety procedures and makes proper use of all safety equipment when required.

  • Performs necessary adjustments, calibrations and configurations of plant weighing operations, metal detector, printer and label making equipment.

  • Fabricates basic machine parts, as required.

  • Calculates and provides mathematical solutions to mechanical problems, including electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems.

  • Provides suggestions and technical support to production and engineering, on an as needed basis.

  • Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required.

  • Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.

  • Ensures compliance with all product safety, legality and quality requirements.

  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures.

The Millwright position may be right for you if you:

  • 3 – 5 years of work hands-on experience in a food or pharmaceutical production environment.

  • Strong multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills with an eye for continuous improvement.

  • Strong ability and ability to drive action.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Specialized training in a recognized Community College program or completed Trade certification (Multiple disciplines/Dual ticket is preferred).

  • 433A Canadian Millwright License is required.

  • Willingness to work onsite in Scarborough 5 days per week.

This is a safety sensitive position, and it requires the use of an N9 NIOSH-approved fitted respirator (“N95”) or an approved alternative. Successful candidates will be required to go through appropriate fit-testing and will be required to wear an N95 while performing their duties.
