Position Description & QualificationsSerco-North America is seeking a Military Standards Subject Matter Expert (SME) with 8+ years of experience in high-level defense programs and Modeling and Simulation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in operations and training, a proactive mindset, is able to self-manage/operate independently, possesses the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment, and capable of working effectively with multiple distributed teams across multiple time zones and international borders. You will provide operational insight and assist to spearhead major projects and prioritize requirements appropriately. You will be required to make recommendations and implement strategies, analyze alternatives and provide strategic vision and mentorship to the broader team while documenting development processes in support of multiple Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) programs for the USAF and International Partners and Allies from the organization's Orlando, FL. office (remote work is also considered).
You will be part of a team of engineers and subject matter experts that work closely with both US and International customers as well as other Serco teams to deliver quality standards and data. You will also regularly interact with our Networking and Infrastructure staff to help properly formulate modern solutions to address the frequently evolving M&S playing field. The team has been recognized by the AF and industry for outstanding contributions to these programs.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and prioritize standards and requirements
- Analyze and recommend standards solutions
- Document recommendations and alternatives
- Advise Senior Leadership on strategic vision and solutions
- Supervise, plan, and lead analytical studies, technical reviews, and data-driven surveys to support standards decisions, planning, and prioritization
- Design, modify, develop, write, and implement network and simulator operating and common standards utilizing the DMO Standards Maintenance Process (SMP) as guidance
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve standards-related issues across all phases of the program
- Work with TENA, HLA, and DIS protocols for distributed simulation environments
- Support monthly DMO Standards Working Groups domestically and internationally
- Support the revision of and/or development of DMO Standards
- Support coalition and joint standards efforts
- Support the certification of federate systems ensuring standards compliance
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree with 10 years of related experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
- 5 years of experience working with HLA and DIS protocols.
- Familiarity with Information Systems Security and Cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with IEEE, MIL, and SISO standards, including understanding the contents and relationships between DIS network packets.
- Ability to quickly adapt and work on multiple programs concurrently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time (generally up to one week at a time, 2-3 times per year)
- Must have a valid US Passport and the ability to travel internationally.
- Experience writing and executing unit tests
- (If Remote) Self-motivated, disciplined, and capable of independent work with limited direct supervision
Additional desired experience and skills:
- 3+ years of experience working with TENA and GRID.
- 3+ years of experience with Windows 11 operating systems.
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 Suite of tools.
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Teams
- Familiarity with standards such as IEEE and SISO standards, including an understanding of the contents and relationships between DIS network packets.
