Job Description:

Job Title
Midwest Account Sales Executive - Personal Auto

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Midwest Account Sales Executive for 3M Personal Auto, you will drive territory growth across the Central Region by establishing new accounts with pro shops, specialty installers, detail shops, and automotive dealers--and by converting accounts currently served by competitive products. You will also collaborate with 3M's channel sales team as a product specialist on key sales opportunities and deliver training to strengthen the capability of distribution partners. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in the automotive aftermarket, specialty auto retail, or related channels and is credible with installers, shop operators, and dealer-level customers.

As a Personal Auto Sales Executive you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  •  Grow the territory by prospecting and onboarding new pro shop, installer, detail shop, and automotive dealer accounts, with an emphasis on converting accounts currently using competitive products
  • Generate new business through proactive outreach including cold calling, territory canvassing, and follow-up on inbound leads; maintain an active pipeline and advance opportunities through the full sales cycle
  • Support the channel sales team on joint calls with distributor representatives, serving as a product specialist on high-priority or technically complex opportunities
  • Deliver product and application training to distribution partners and end-customer audiences to build selling capability and drive product adoption
  • Represent 3M at trade shows and industry events to build brand presence and develop new business relationships
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver customer solutions and communicate market feedback from the field
  • Maintain accurate account records and provide regular territory reporting to management
  • Travel up to 50%, including overnights and occasional weekends

Company Vehicle
This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of outside sales experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Current, valid Driver’s License.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Aftermarket automotive sales -- selling accessories, appearance products, protective films, window film, coatings, or related categories to installers, shops, or specialty retailers
  • Luxury or performance dealership environment -- experience selling into or working with luxury, exotic, or performance dealerships where appearance protection products are part of the F&I or reconditioning conversation
  • Automotive product distribution -- experience working for or alongside a distributor or jobber, with familiarity of how distribution sales teams operate in the field
  • Dealer network management -- experience managing and growing an established dealer account base, including deepening relationships with existing accounts while identifying and adding new dealers within a defined market
  • Dealer, detail shop, or pro shop experience -- experience calling on or working in dealerships, reconditioning centers, detail shops, or performance and accessory pro shops
  • Automotive film products -- familiarity with paint protection film (PPF), window film and tint, or vehicle wrap products in a sales or technical capacity
  • Industry association involvement -- engagement with SEMA, PTEN, or other aftermarket trade organizations
  • Experience working alongside a sales team in a specialist or overlay capacity
  • Ability to deliver effective product and application training to sales reps and end-customer audiences
  •  Consultative sales approach with the ability to identify customer needs and position solutions credibly
  • Technical aptitude to discuss product application and performance specifications with professional installers
  • Strong self-management skills and ability to independently manage a large geographic territory
  •  Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to travel up to 50% including overnights and weekends

Work location:

  • Remote based location with assigned territory in the Midwest Regional Personal Auto: Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee
