Job Description

The Midstream Operator III is responsible for leading the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of compressor stations and associated midstream facilities. Working with limited supervision, this position oversees equipment performance, coordinates maintenance activities, monitors operational data, and drives equipment reliability and uptime.

This role serves as a senior field resource, providing technical expertise, mentoring less experienced operators, and coordinating with maintenance, engineering, and vendor teams to optimize operations. The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting abilities, compressor station experience, and a commitment to operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and safety leadership.

Responsibilities

Operations & Equipment Management

  • Lead daily operations of compressor stations and associated midstream facilities.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize compressors, pumps, engines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Analyze SCADA and operational data to identify performance issues and improve equipment reliability.
  • Perform real-time surveillance of facility operations and respond to operational abnormalities.
  • Coordinate and oversee minor maintenance, repairs, and corrective actions to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools and condition monitoring techniques to reduce unplanned downtime.

Reliability & Performance Optimization

  • Monitor equipment health and operational performance trends.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and chemical treatment teams to improve system performance and equipment protection.
  • Recommend operational improvements and equipment upgrades to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all company, regulatory, environmental, and DOT requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all operations.
  • Participate in safety programs, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist.
  • Support emergency response activities and serve as a key field resource during operational incidents.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure SCADA data, inspection records, and operational logs are complete and accurate.
  • Oversee GIS mapping updates and periodic facility inspections.
  • Track operational issues and corrective actions through completion.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Train, mentor, and support less experienced operators.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and technical development.
  • Provide guidance on troubleshooting, operational best practices, and maintenance activities.
  • Serve as a field-wide subject matter resource for compressor station operations and maintenance.

Vendor & Contractor Coordination

  • Coordinate contractor and vendor activities within assigned facilities.
  • Monitor vendor performance and verify work quality.
  • Support material deliveries, inventory management, and operational logistics.
  • Communicate operational priorities and maintenance needs with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Details:

This is a day-shift position to service our areas in New Mexico and West Texas (Carlsbad, Pecos, Wink).

Location:Pecos, TX

Pay: $73/per hr

Shift: 6 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- 8x6 schedule Tuesday - Tuesday, 10 hour days.
- Candidate must provide own 4 gas monitor
- Candidate must show successful completion of Rig Pass and Safe Land trainings
