OverviewITA is seeking a Mid-Level UI/UX Designer to join the team in Fort Eustis, Virginia in a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
We are seeking an experiencedMid-Level UI/UX Designer to support the U.S. Army. The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for designing intuitive, accessible, and user-centered digital experiences for mission applications and business solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with government stakeholders, business analysts, solutions architects, Power Platform developers, and end users to understand user needs and translate those needs into effective user interfaces, workflows, prototypes, and design specifications.
The position will support the design of applications and digital experiences leveragingMicrosoft Power Apps, Power BI, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and other enterprise technologies. The ideal candidate will understand both user experience principles and the practical considerations of implementing designs within low-code and enterprise application platforms.
Key Responsibilties:
- Design intuitive, efficient, and user-centered interfaces for mission and business applications.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand user needs, workflows, pain points, and mission objectives.
- Conduct user research, interviews, surveys, observations, and other discovery activities as appropriate.
- Translate user requirements and business processes into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity interface designs.
- Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces for web-based and Power Platform applications.
- Design user experiences forPower Apps Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps.
- Develop navigation structures, information architectures, screen layouts, forms, dashboards, and interaction patterns.
- Create low-, mid-, and high-fidelity prototypes to validate proposed solutions before development.
- Develop and maintain UI/UX design standards, reusable components, patterns, and templates.
- Apply consistent visual design principles across applications and digital products.
- Work closely with Power Platform developers to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented accurately.
- Provide developers with detailed design specifications, assets, interaction requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in application demonstrations, design reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback from representative users.
- Analyze usability findings and recommend improvements to application functionality and user experience.
- Review developed applications to ensure they conform to approved designs and established usability standards.
- Identify accessibility, usability, navigation, and visual design issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Design dashboards and data visualizations that communicate information effectively to users and leadership.
- Collaborate with Power BI developers to establish effective layouts, visualization strategies, filtering approaches, and information hierarchies.
- Support development of design systems and reusable UI components for Power Platform solutions.
- Maintain design documentation, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, research findings, and design specifications.
- Ensure designs account for security, privacy, role-based access, and other applicable government requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of existing applications through usability assessments and user feedback.
- Assist business analysts and developers in resolving requirements or design ambiguities.
- Stay current with UI/UX design practices, accessibility standards, Microsoft design guidance, and Power Platform capabilities.
- Perform other design and user-experience activities, as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design, product design, interaction design, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing web-based, enterprise, or business applications.
- Experience developing:
- User flows
- Wireframes
- Prototypes
- High-fidelity mockups
- Design specifications
- Information architectures
- Experience conducting usability testing and incorporating user feedback into designs.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and interaction design.
- Experience with design and prototyping tools such asFigma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or comparable tools.
- Experience designing responsive interfaces for multiple screen sizes and devices.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
- Experience collaborating with developers and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to translate business requirements into intuitive user experiences.
- Strong visual design, communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with business analysts, developers, architects, and government stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing applications usingMicrosoft Power Apps.
- Experience with Power Apps Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps.
- Experience designing Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online.
- Experience developing or contributing to a reusabledesign system or component library.
- Experience with Fluent UI or other enterprise design systems.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or basic front-end development concepts.
- Familiarity with Power Fx and Power Platform capabilities.
- Experience working in anAgile/Scrumdevelopment environment.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.
- Experience supportingU.S. Army, DoD, or federal government programs.
- Familiarity withSection 508, WCAG, or other federal accessibility requirements.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity, privacy, and information-handling requirements.
- Experience designing applications for controlled or high-security environments.
- Experience with data visualization and information design.
- UI/UX, HCI, accessibility, or related professional certifications.
- Active Secret security clearance.

Pay range for this position is $120,000 - $135,000 annually.
This position has a broad compensation range due to the complexities of government contracting, including contract pricing, labor category requirements, funding parameters, and varying levels of candidate experience and qualifications.
