Location: Dallas, TX

The Opportunity:

Leads day-to-day activities of the Dallas Mill Engineering Department where safe performance is a must. Responsibilities include managing both an internal staff engineer and outside engineering resources on an as needed basis. Manages the mill capital portfolio on a regular basis and partners with corporate engineering, legal and purchasing on larger projects. Timely execution of mill projects, on budget performance, and accurate accounting of results will be required. This is an onsite position at the mill.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage mill capital plan
  • Plan and execute capital projects from design through completion and commissioning
  • Front End Planning efforts include developing ideas into projects, developing budgets, and seeking approval
  • Active participation in all safety programs (STOP observations, Team of Two Audits, etc.)
  • Ensure that all projects are installed per applicable regulatory codes (OSHA, IEEE, NFPA, etc.)
  • Comply with corporate project standards and reporting timelines
  • Provide leadership to staff Project Engineer and outside engineering resources
  • Be an operational resource by providing technical expertise
  • Coordinate outside resources to assist with operational improvements
  • Primary owner of risk management (FM Global, fire systems, and NDT of pressure vessels)
  • Primary owner of general mill facility maintenance
  • Participates in the Maintenance Department weekend duty rotation

What you need to succeed:

  • BS Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in Project Engineering
  • Experience in managing capital projects and leading project teams
  • Paper industry experience is a plus
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Analytical and decision-making tools
  • Accounting
  • CAPEX procedures and guidelines
  • IRR development and auditing of results
