Full Job Description
Job Summary
Oversees the daily operations of the accounting team and ensures the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the Hospital's General Ledger, related financial records, and internal and external reporting. Serves as the primary accounting leader for UMC's capital assets and capital improvement activities, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. Responsible for the complete life-cycle of fixed assets, including construction-in-progress accounting, capitalization, depreciation, lease accounting, other capital financing arrangements, asset transfers and disposals, capital project reconciliation, and related financial statement support. Works collaboratively with Facilities, Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Project Management, Treasury, Budget, Grants, and operational leadership to ensure capital transactions are recorded accurately, supported appropriately, and reported in a timely manner. Through effective leadership and financial stewardship, supports strategic decision-making and helps ensure the integrity of UMC's financial reporting environment.

Skills
1. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including applicable FASB and GASB guidance, fixed-asset accounting, capitalization, depreciation, construction-in-progress accounting, project closeout, leases, and general ledger controls.
2. Knowledge of computer and accounting systems, including enterprise financial systems, fixed-asset subledgers, project-accounting applications, system interfaces, and related reporting tools.
3. Knowledge of project development, systems implementation, process improvement, system testing, and workflow standardization; experience with Infor CloudSuite Financials is preferred.
4. Knowledge of healthcare, governmental, and financial reporting, including capital planning, bond-funded and grant-funded projects, restricted assets, regulatory reporting, and Medicare cost-report support.
5. Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and to create, analyze, and communicate information using reporting and business-intelligence tools.
6. Ability to apply financial and analytical skills efficiently, including account reconciliation, variance analysis, large-data review, identification of exceptions, and development of practical corrective actions.
7. Ability to interpret capitalization policies and accounting guidance and distinguish capital, construction-in-progress, operating, prepaid, restricted, and reimbursable costs using sound professional judgment.
8. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and explain accounting requirements and financial results to staff, department leaders, executive management, auditors, consultants, and other non-financial users.
9. Ability to use supervisory and leadership skills effectively, including coaching, staff development, performance management, accountability, conflict resolution, and cross-training.
10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams while protecting confidential financial, employee, vendor, and organizational information.
11. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously with strong time-management, organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills.

Work Experience
Three years of supervisory/management experience is required. Strong experience in accounting is required.

Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field is required. Master degree is preferred.
