Full Job Description
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical tax consulting and advisory services related to federal tax accounting methods, accounting periods, including income and expense recognition, capitalization, depreciation, inventory accounting, and other tax accounting matters
  • Advise KPMG professionals and clients on accounting method planning opportunities, method change procedures, and the application of complex federal tax authorities
  • Research, analyze, and interpret Internal Revenue Code provisions, Treasury Regulations, IRS guidance, and other tax authorities related to accounting methods and procedural tax matters
  • Draft and review technical memoranda, tax opinions, thought leadership, technical alerts, and other internal and external publications
  • Collaborate with Accounting Methods & Credit Services (AMCS), Business Tax Services (BTS), and other tax practices to support client engagements and technical consultations
  • Develop and deliver technical training, mentoring, and guidance to tax professionals throughout the firm
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment


Additional Responsibility for Senior Manager:
  • Serve as a national technical resource on complex accounting methods matters and contribute to the development of WNT guidance, publications, and risk management initiatives


Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years of recent tax experience in an accounting firm, law firm, or private industry. Significant experience in federal tax accounting methods preferred
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Licensed CPA, EA, or JD/LLM, in addition to others on KPMG's approved credential listing; any individual who does not possess at least one of the approved designations/credentials when employment commences will have one year from date of hire to obtain an approved credential
  • Demonstrated experience researching and analyzing federal tax authorities and applying technical guidance to client situations
  • Experience drafting technical memoranda, tax opinions, or other written technical analyses
  • Strong project management, communication, analytical, and client service skills


Additional Qualification for Senior Manager:
  • Minimum seven years of recent tax experience in an accounting firm, law firm, or private industry; deep technical expertise in federal tax accounting methods preferred
