About the Role:

The Metadata & Data Governance Analyst supports the consistent application of metadata standards and data governance practices across S&I knowledge and data systems, with primary focus on Document Management Systems (M-Files) and support for GenAI (Genie) and other AI-enabled initiatives.

The role contributes to the operationalization of the S&I data strategy by executing governance activities, supporting audits, and assisting in resolving metadata and content issues. Through direct user support and structured execution of governance processes, the role helps improve data consistency, usability, and readiness for AI and modeling use cases while supporting the broader Knowledge Management program.

Accountabilities:

Support metadata governance across M-Files
  • Assist in applying metadata standards, naming conventions, and content structures across libraries
  • Execute routine metadata audits and support tracking of governance adherence
  • Identify metadata inconsistencies and escalate issues to product owners and governance leads
  • Support implementation of scalable metadata practices to improve search and reuse


Support data governance adherence across systems and teams

  • Work with Data Owners and Data Stewards to support implementation of Data Minimum Standards
  • Monitor governance compliance and track remediation activities
  • Assist in identifying data quality and consistency issues and support resolution activities
  • Support alignment between knowledge management practices and broader data strategy


Support data readiness for AI and digital initiatives

  • Ensure content and metadata are prepared in line with defined standards for AI ingestion
  • Assist in identifying content gaps and inconsistencies impacting AI usability
  • Apply metadata and structuring best practices to support data readiness for analytics and modeling
  • Support continuous improvement of data and content quality for AI-enabled tools


Provide user support and contribute to adoption of governance practices

  • Act as a point of contact for user questions related to metadata, document management, and governance processes
  • Support onboarding and training activities for data governance and systems usage
  • Assist in resolving metadata and content issues in collaboration with users and stakeholders
  • Promote adoption of structured data and knowledge management practices across S&I


Own external research acquisition and content ingestion

  • Manage the end-to-end external research acquisition program, including journal articles and subscriptions
  • Ensure acquired content is appropriately ingested, structured, and governed within document management system (M-Files, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and ensure continuity of access to critical research resources


Manage Document governance workflows

  • Administer and continuously improve key document approval workflows (e.g., controlled document processes)
  • Ensure workflows align with governance standards and support compliance requirements
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve workflow efficiency and user experience


Skills / Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in knowledge management, content management, data governance, or related roles
  • Bachelor's degree in information management, data science, life sciences, or a related field
  • Experience supporting resolution of data or content issues through structured analysis and execution
  • Experience working with digital platforms (e.g., document management systems, data platforms, or similar tools)
  • Solid understanding of metadata structures and data management principles
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support and guide users across functions
  • Ability to work independently while following defined standards and processes


Strong understanding of:

  • Metadata structures, naming conventions, and content classification
  • Data governance fundamentals, including standards and compliance expectations
  • Content lifecycle management within digital platforms (e.g., M-Files or similar systems)
  • Basic data readiness concepts for analytics and AI use cases


Preferred Experiences

  • Experience working in scientific, R&D, or technical environments
  • Experience supporting AI or data-driven initiatives (e.g., knowledge retrieval, modeling, or data preparation)
  • Experience managing external research acquisition programs (e.g., journals, subscriptions, content ingestion)
  • Experience administering or improving governance workflows or regulated document processes

Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency. When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.

The salary range for this position is: $71,000 - $104,000.
