Full Job Description
Who are we looking for?

This role sits at the intersection of Product Lifecycle Management and Inventory & Assortment Strategy, bringing clarity to the data and turning insights into smart, future-forward product decisions. As tentree's Merchant, you will dive deep into financial and market trends, using strong analytical skills and business acumen to understand what's working, what's not, and where the opportunities lie. From there, you'll help shape our future assortments; rationalizing the product mix, optimizing SKU productivity, and managing purchasing across our DTC channels.

We're looking for someone who is energized by balancing top-line growth with bottom-line impact; your work will directly influence sales performance, inventory health, and departmental KPIs, ensuring we have the right products, in the right quantities, at the right time.

If you thrive on translating data into action, love building thoughtful assortment strategies, and want your decisions to have meaningful impact across the business, this role is for you!

What will you be doing?

Pre-Season Line Planning
  • Research marketplace trends and conduct competitive analysis across key competitors and tentree wholesale partners
  • Propose seasonal line architecture and partner closely with Design to balance data-driven allocation with newness that moves the brand forward
  • Own and manage key product data, including PLM entry, handoff materials, and cross-functional coordination
  • Quantify seasonal buy plans and reorder opportunities, managing product flow to maximize efficiency across channels
  • Review proto samples to ensure alignment with target margins, delivery timelines, and original assortment intent
  • Present seasonal assortments and product initiatives cross-functionally, and lead seasonal line reviews to support Sales

In-Season & Post-Season Analysis
  • Analyze weekly sales reporting to identify opportunities, recommend actions, and develop exit strategies for underperforming styles
  • Monitor inventory across warehouses to protect margin, managing transfers and reorders as needed
  • Partner on website merchandising to ensure accurate, competitive, and conversion-focused product presentation that supports eCommerce KPIs
  • Review past-season performance (DTC and Wholesale), cross-channel feedback, and market trends to inform carryover and future assortment decisions

Requirements

Professional Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Merchandising and/or Buying
  • Demonstrated experience managing a category across multiple stages of the GTM (Go-To-Market) calendar
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and retail math
  • Experience working in PLM systems and using reporting/analytics tools such as PowerBI or Tableau; familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an asset

Personal Strengths:
  • Results-oriented with the ability to make independent, fact-based decisions
  • Strong analytical capability paired with strategic thinking and business acumen
  • Proactive problem-solver who can present clear options and recommendations
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Clear understanding of key business metrics and how data informs design, product, and commercial outcomes
