Full Job Description

The Merchant supports the seasonal merchandising process for Hudson Men’s Full Price and Off Price across denim, sportswear and additional product initiatives.  This role is highly operational, and execution focused, ensuring product information, systems, samples, market tools and key milestones are accurate, complete and delivered on time.

Working closely with the Director of Merchandising, this position helps translate seasonal strategies and assortment plans into execution, acting as a key point of connection between Merchandising and cross-functional partners including Design, Product Development, Production, Planning, Sales, Marketing and E-commerce.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-orientated and proactive, with strong systems knowledge and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.  This role offers the opportunity to develop broader merchandising, product assortment strategy skills overtime.

Specific Responsibilities Would Include

Merchandising & Product Execution

  • Support the Director of Merchandising in executing seasonal assortment strategies across Hudson Men’s Full Price and Off Price.
  • Manage day-to-day merchandising operations throughout the product lifecycle, from initial product creation through market, adoption and production handoff.
  • Own product and item setup, ensuring information is complete, accurate and maintained across PLM, IBT, SAP, NuOrder and other applicable systems.
  • Proactively track styles through systems and workflows, identifying missing information, delays or roadblocks and partnering with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate seasonal SKU plans, line lists, assortment information, pricing, product attributes and other merchandising tools.
  • Partner with Design, Product Development, and Production to ensure product information and merchandising decisions are communicated accurately and reflected within systems.
  • Assist in monitoring SKU counts, category balance, price architecture, delivery flow, and assortment needs.
  • Support competitive research, product performance analysis, and market recaps to help identify opportunities for future assortments.
  • Develop increased ownership of assortment planning, product opportunities and category strategy as experience within the role grows.

Calendar, Milestones & Market Readiness

  • Own merchandising preparation and execution for major seasonal milestone meetings, ensuring products, systems, samples, and presentation materials are complete and market ready.
  • Maintain and manage merchandising deliverables against the seasonal time-and-action calendar, proactively communicating risks and following up with partners to keep deadlines on track.
  • Prepare line review, adoption, pre-costing, market and post season materials in partnership with Director of Merchandising and cross functional teams.
  • Partner closely with Hudson Women’s team to coordinate market preparation, showroom needs, seasonal tools and shared processes.
  • Build and maintain NuOrder assortments, market tools, line sheets and other selling materials required by Sales and cross functional partners.
  • Support showroom merchandising, sample organization and preparation for internal and external market appointments.
  • Participate in milestone meetings and present relevant product, assortments and status information as appropriate.
  • Capture decisions and action items from milestone meetings and drive follow up across teams to ensure timely execution.

Cross Functional Partnership

  • Serve as day-to-day merchandising contact for Design, Product Development, Production, Planning, Sales, Marketing and E-commerce.
  • Ensure cross functional teams have accurate and timely product information needed to complete their respective workstreams.
  • Partner with Planning on assortment information, SKU counts, pricing, forecasts and business needs.
  • Work with Marketing and E-commerce to provide accurate product information, samples, seasonal priorities and product storytelling inputs.
  • Partner with Sales on market preparation, customer requests, selling tools and product information.
  • Communicate proactively across teams to identify outstanding needs, troubleshoot issues and keep projects moving forward.
  • Build strong working relationships across the organization and develop an understanding of how merchandising decisions impact each function.

Business & Operational Management

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy across product data, pricing, style information, delivery dates and assortment documentation.
  • Track open issues and outstanding deliverables across multiple seasons and projects simultaneously.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend solutions that improve accuracy, communication and efficiency.
  • Assist with reporting and analysis of selling performance, market feedback and seasonal results.
  • Support special projects and new business initiatives as needed.
  • Develop strong knowledge of the Hudson customer, competitive landscape, product architecture and overall brand positioning.
Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have
  • 3-6+ years of experience in apparel merchandising; men’s merchandising and denim experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the apparel product lifecycle from concept through market and production.
  • Demonstrated experience with product/item set up and maintaining accurate product information within multiple systems.
  • Experience with PLM, SAP, NuOrder strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple seasons, deadlines and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Highly detail orientated with a strong commitment to data and systems accuracy.
  • Proactive follow up skills and the ability to drive projects forward across multiple cross functional partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and timelines may shift.
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to build strong relationships across Design, PD, Production, Planning, Sales, Marketing and E-commerce.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take ownership of operational challenges.

Salary Range: $90,000-100,000
