A Day in the Life: This position is responsible for managing a primary commodity while supporting additional commodities as needed. The role focuses on developing a strong understanding of grain merchandising, logistics, accounting, and credit systems and processes.
What You'll Be Doing:- Support the development and execution of commodity strategies and business plans in collaboration with management, including volume, sales approach, and transportation objectives.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with market position, including setting pricing for spot and deferred delivery contracts and communicating programs to Country Operations.
- Manage sales to a defined customer base, maximizing arbitrage opportunities, approving pricing within guidelines, and negotiating commodity price and volume.
- Oversee sales contract administration to ensure compliance; manage inventory price risk across industry, on-farm, and in-store positions, including basis, futures, and forward exposure.
- Monitor commodity positions and performance against business plans, identifying trends and taking corrective action to support profitability and risk objectives.
Skills/Experience Requirements: - Post-secondary degree in Agriculture, Commerce, or Business Administration, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in agriculture or merchandising.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and manage risk.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective persuasion and diplomacy skills.
- Proficiency in communication, spreadsheet, and word processing applications within a Windows-based environment.
The compensation range for this position is $88,00.00 to $99,036.00 In addition to the regular compensation, this role is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
