You will report to the Technical Director, who is committed to mentoring junior team members and fostering an inclusive environment. The work setup is hybrid, requiring you to be in the office at our Vancouver office three days a week for valuable in-person collaboration. There are very mild travel requirements for this position.

Your Role

• Design and construct enterprise-grade connectors for varied data sources.
• Implement robust access control policies to eliminate unauthorized data exposure during search queries.
• Create and refine CPU-optimized and GPU based text classification rules and metadata tagging to detect and safeguard sensitive information (PII, PHI, financial records, credentials) using Regular Expressions (Regex) and Named Entity Recognition (NER).
• Develop and write clean unit and integration tests for document extraction, classification, and ingestion pipelines.
• Partner with senior engineering staff to design, test, and enhance enterprise search and retrieval pipelines.

What You Will Bring

• Education & Experience: You recently completed a Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field with 3-6 years of relevant work experience
• Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python, Golang, or modern backend engineering technologies.
• Architecture Awareness: Exposure to vector databases, enterprise storage solutions, REST APIs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, and identity-aware search/retrieval systems.
• Core Engineering Concepts: Solid foundation in data structures, enterprise-grade security standards, and Git-based version control.
• Text Classification & NLP (Good to Have): Familiarity with regex pattern matching, entity recognition libraries (e.g., spaCy, MedSpaCy, NLTK), and techniques for validating sensitive data types.
• Mindset: Self-motivated, growth-oriented, and eager to be mentored by seasoned technical leaders.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between CAD $ 132,000 and CAD $ 198,000 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
