Full Job Description
About the Role

As a Member of Technical Staff, Android, you'll lead the development of Mercor's next-generation Android platform for tens of thousands of AI experts around the world.

Our mobile platform is becoming a core part of the expert experience-from discovering projects and completing onboarding to collaborating with AI-powered workflows. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, AI, and Backend Engineering to define the technical direction of Android while delivering intuitive, reliable, and high-performance mobile experiences that directly improve expert engagement, retention, and satisfaction.

You'll join a small, high-ownership engineering team where you'll influence architecture, establish engineering best practices, mentor engineers as the team grows, and shape the long-term mobile strategy for Expert Experience Engineering. This is an opportunity to build the Android platform from the ground up while working directly with engineering and product leadership.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the architecture and development of Mercor's native Android application.
  • Design, build, and ship high-quality Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

  • Define Android engineering standards, architecture patterns, testing strategy, and release quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, AI, Backend, and Infrastructure teams to deliver customer-facing experiences.
  • Leverage modern AI development tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to accelerate engineering while maintaining a high quality bar.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, observability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Mentor engineers and help establish a strong mobile engineering culture.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience making architectural decisions and driving technical direction across projects.
  • Fluent in using modern AI software development tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve engineering productivity.
  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals and product judgment.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across a team.
  • High ownership, strong communication skills, and a bias toward shipping.
