About the Role

Medical Affairs at Azurity Pharmaceuticals, a privately held company delivering innovative medicines for overlooked patients across 50+ countries, drives scientific and clinical initiatives with a portfolio of 40+ brands spanning 10 dosage forms and 9 therapeutic areas.

The MSL Lead - Anti-Infectives is a US-based field position within the Medical Affairs Department, reporting to the Director, US Field Medical. The MSL Lead is responsible for leading, developing, and coaching a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) while maintaining an active presence in the field through direct scientific engagement with external healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders. The role ensures high-quality execution of the Field Medical strategy, drives operational excellence across the MSL team, and serves as a key Medical Affairs representative in cross-functional planning, including launch readiness and lifecycle management activities.

Azurity is seeking a MSL Lead (Anti-Infectives) as part of the Medical Affairs team based in the on the East Coast, adjacent to a major metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific & Field Leadership
  • Serve as the senior field-based scientific representative for Medical Affairs, fostering strategic relationships with KOLs, investigators, and healthcare professionals across academic and community settings.
  • Lead high-quality scientific exchange, providing balanced and evidence-based information on disease states, clinical data, and treatment landscapes.
  • Support company-sponsored and investigator-initiated research through investigator engagement, site identification, feasibility assessments, and ongoing scientific collaboration.
  • Represent Medical Affairs at congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and other key scientific engagements.
  • Generate and communicate actionable medical insights to inform Medical Affairs strategy and evidence-generation priorities.

People Leadership
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to MSLs, ensuring consistent execution, scientific excellence, and professional development across the field team.
  • Conduct field coaching, performance reviews, development planning, onboarding, and ongoing training for MSLs.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring and onboarding of MSLs.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for field-based scientific and operational issues while promoting collaboration and best-practice sharing.

Launch & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead field medical launch readiness activities, including development and execution of launch plans, scientific training, field medical playbooks, and readiness assessments.
  • Partner with Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Development, Medical Information, HEOR, Regulatory, and Compliance to ensure aligned and compliant launch execution.
  • Support advisory boards, congress strategy, scientific communications, and key launch governance activities.

Strategic & Operational Excellence
  • Drive franchise-level field medical planning and execution, translating Medical Affairs strategy into measurable field activities.
  • Monitor field performance, CRM quality, insight trends, and key metrics to optimize effectiveness and execution.
  • Support territory planning, budget management, annual strategic planning, and continuous improvement initiatives across the field medical organization.
  • Maintain responsibility for a focused portfolio of high-priority institutions and KOLs while balancing leadership responsibilities.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
  • Advanced terminal degree (PharmD, MD, DO, DNP) or other advanced medical degree (NP, PA, RN etc.) is required.

Experience:
  • >5 years of experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development and >3 years experience working as an MSL.
  • Thorough knowledge or experience in General Surgery, Abdominal Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Wound Care Infectious Disease or Hospital-based care
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in Field Medical, including direct people management or matrix leadership of MSLs, with a proven ability to build and develop high-performing field medical teams.
  • Demonstrated success supporting product launches and leading cross-functional medical initiatives in complex healthcare environments

Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to present effective and influential oral presentations
  • Self-motivated with strategic thinking and strong geographical management skills
  • Deep scientific expertise - stays abreast of data, treatment trends, and new information in the profession and ability to articulate therapeutic knowledge and translate expert feedback into appropriate insights

  • Excellent organization skills and decision-making abilities. Skillfully plans, prioritizes, and executes multiple responsibilities and projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare systems, the evolving medical landscape, regulatory and payer environment, public health and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in digital tools
  • Travel frequently up to 40-50%, including occasional weekends. Ability to fly or drive to various meetings
  • Candidate must reside within the territory or within a 30 min commute from the nearest territory border focusing on both community and academic sites
