The Clinical Workflow Coordinator position is a new role aligned to the Medical Imaging Flow team. It's focused on ensuring the appropriateness and coordination of Medical Imaging patient requests on a daily basis. The Clinical Workflow Coordinator will review all inpatient and emergency requests to validate appropriateness of the request and services planned and maintain on-going knowledge of plan to facilitate access and optimum operations.

Duties- Triages medical imaging requests, prioritizing in collaboration with Radiologists, Technologists, and Medical Imaging In-patient Patient Flow Coordinators
- Participates in the development of criteria for triaging of urgent/emergent requests for inpatient and emergency patient tests/procedures, drawing upon clinical knowledge to coordinate patient requests to appropriate modality and plays an integral role in the scheduling of inpatient requests throughout Medical Imaging
- Communicates, collaborates and coordinates exams with inpatient units and Emergency Department with respect to any issues/requirements prior to tests or procedures being scheduled
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and barriers to delays in scheduling of inpatient and emergency patient requests
- Liaises with patient care team and program/medical leads to discuss and ensure the appropriate utilization of resources
- Coordinates scheduling of patients based on imaging room availability and care needs
- Develops recommendations for improvement of patient coordination and scheduling, as part of ongoing development of resource management processes
- Provides detailed documentation in Coral RIS and Epic with respect to scheduling of patients and information pertinent to technologists, nurses, Radiologists, and other members of the modality team
- Responds to internal and external inquiries promptly, politely and accurately, within scope of authority and adhering to policies on confidentiality
- Communicates appointment information to inpatient units and appropriate health care professionals
- Participates actively as a member of the Medical Imaging team to ensure timely, efficient and effective services to inpatients
- Collaborates and communicates with Modality Supervisors, Technologists, Radiologists, and In-Patient Flow Coordinators when scheduling patients and identifying data to be collected
- Participates on quality management teams and shares site specific data with interdisciplinary team members to facilitate/maximize patient outcome
Qualifications- At minimum, completion of a bachelor's degree in healthcare or recognized equivalent
- Current member of a regulated health profession with registration of regulatory college (i.e., CMRITO, CNO, other.)
- 3-5 years of practical and related experience, ideally in a hospital or medical imaging environment
- Ability to critically think in a fast-past environment using good judgement
- Ability to prioritize and monitor workload, planning and forecasting ahead while staying organized
- Confidence to act as a resource/role model on the modality team
- Ability to communicate effectively to other members in a hospital environment (i.e., Managers, Allied Health Professionals, Patients, and other medical staff)
