Overview

RMCC is a recognized leader in cancer care throughout Colorado. We are currently seeking a reliable, hardworking, experienced Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) to join our team at our Aurora cancer center.

About the Team

RMCC operates four Radiation Oncology centers across the Denver/Boulder area, supported by a collaborative dosimetry team. Together, our centers include five full-time dosimetrists who coordinate cross-coverage to ensure adequate coverage and time off for a healthy work/life balance.

This role may require planning and coordinating with staff across our sites, so strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Work Location / Flexibility

Dosimetry staff typically split time between in-clinic work and working from home, so flexibility is available if it appeals to you. However, we do prefer candidates who can be available on-site as needed.

Salary Range: $120,000-$165,000.00

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certification, etc.

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, and certifications as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.

Responsibilities

SCOPE: In collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, use critical thinking and problem solving skills to develop, generate, and evaluate treatment plans using computer software and manual calculations based on prescribed target region and avoidance dose criteria. The dosimetrist may use a wide variety of patient imaging modalities registered to the planning images; which assists in the identification of physician delineated target structures and critical structures to be avoided. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

This role may require planning and coordinating with staff across our sites, so strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Dosimetry & Technology
  • Planning for 2D, 3D, IMRT, VMAT, and SBRT on our Novalis TX linear accelerator
  • Treatment planning system: Varian Eclipse (Version 16.1.5)
  • Common tools/workflows include: Aria, MIM, and Radformation (ClearCheck, ClearCalc, AutoContour and EZfluence)

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Planning for all 2D, 3D, IMRT, VMAT and SBRT on our Novalis TX linear accelerator using Varian Eclipse (Version 16.1.5). RMCC utilizes Arian, MIM, Radformaton (ClearCheck, Plan Check, EZ fluence, Auto Contour and ClearCalc).

-Generate radiation therapy treatment plans using computer software and various imaging modalities; demonstrating strong attention to detail.

-Identify and delineates anatomy and anatomical positioning on various imaging modalities.

-Identify the need to create compensation filters, custom shields, and other beam modifying devices.

-Complete treatment plans accurately and in a timely manner based on complexity. -Adapt to the ever-changing technology and be open to learning new systems and techniques.

-Perform or assist in the planning of the production of molds, casts, and other immobilization devices while assisting and/or consulting during treatment simulations as necessary in accordance with state laws.

-Effectively communicate plan details with physicians and staff; able to offer alternative solutions.

-Consults and communicates to the therapist staff regarding the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.

-Documents treatment planning and quality assurance tasks accurately.

-May be asked to accurately enter codes for technical treatment planning and quality assurance tasks.

-May be asked to perform general computerized tasks, such as word processing, using spreadsheets, moving and altering files and directories, and performing data backup.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Credentials as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD); a current and valid certification as a qualified medical dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
