Full Job Description
Responsible for clinical, academic, quality assurance and patient safety and risk management and other related activities in the Division of Endocrinology. Provides care to patients with endocrine related medical condition in the outpatient and inpatient settings. Participates in teaching medical students and residents in the Department of Medicine. Oversees the quality metrics for the Diabetes and Obesity Center.

Concentrates on disorders of the internal (endocrine) glands such as the thyroid, adrenal glands, pituitary gland, and pancreas. Addresses treatment for disorders such as diabetes, metabolic and nutritional disorders, pituitary diseases and menstrual/sexual problems.

Performs such other additional duties for the Department of Endocrinology and for the Hospital, as requested by Chief / Chair.

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • Graduate of accredited Residency Program
  • Completed accredited fellowship program in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
  • Training / experiences as mandated by the American Board of Internal Medicine for board eligibility.
  • Clinical and teaching experience in an inpatient healthcare environment including experience in both large academic medical center and community hospital environments - HIGHLY PREFERRED.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Interest or experience in program development and quality improvement strongly preferred
  • New York State Department of Health Certificate of Qualification
  • New York State Licensed Physician
  • Board certified or board eligible in Endocrinology
  • Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • Certification in Obesity Medicine - HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Appointment to the Medical Staff of The Brooklyn Hospital Center
  • Clinical training and skills as mandated by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Leadership experience - HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Strong commitment to The Brooklyn Hospital center and the communities it serve
  • Strong clinical teaching skills.
  • Excellent communication, bedside manner, and organizational skills
  • A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven Health System.
