Full Job Description
Mechanical/Thermal Engineering Architect position in the fast-paced DRAM Systems and Component Architecture Group at Micron Technology, Inc. As a core senior technical individual contributor, you will focus on the architecture, build, bring up, validation and transition to production of systems based on new memory technologies, ASICs, FPGAs, digital, mix-signal, analog circuitry and power supplies. Solid knowledge and extensive experience in physical and heat-related aspects are required for composing systems based on the mentioned technologies. You should also know high speed transmission line theory and application, mechanical development, thermal development, and characterization. The position will require hands on system bring-up, characterization and debugging as well as knowledge of laboratory equipment such as thermal chambers, temperature measuring equipment and mechanical instruments. This is a highly visible and meaningful role and you will be working very closely with other development groups such as hardware, software, firmware, Media, and ASIC! Designs, defines and implements complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Architect, develop, bring up, test, validate, and release structural and thermal components for complex electronic systems and modules. These systems incorporate advanced memory solutions, ASIC chips, FPGA devices, digital, mixed-signal, analog circuitry, and power supplies as required by product marketing. Architect and build such electronics systems and modules by following guidelines for physical and thermal design and implementation. Define and implement test and validation mechanical and thermal plans including thorough design reviews of all major sub-assemblies to guarantee only one prototype leading to the final system/module revision, and MTBF prediction, FMEA, component derating, margin test, etc. to guarantee highest quality and reliability. Oversee the fabrication of the mechanical and thermal systems and modules. Support product certification activities, NPI, production and manufacturing, including product transfer form Engineering to manufacturing and materials procurement. Identify opportunities for improvement in the way we operate and work and help implement them with management support leading to a more efficient, agile and higher quality product development process. Education/Experience requirements: BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Thermal Engineering paired with 15 years of experience; MSc degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Thermal Engineering paired with 10 years of experience. Solid experience (7 years) in the Electronics/Storage Industry architecting, developing and shipping to customers electronics/storage solutions and products. Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks. Knowledge and/or experience of storage and memory sub-systems, including PCIe and DDR technologies. Proficient with using AI tools in daily job Preferred Qualification: Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues. Self-motivated, self-directed, and a teammate (on the same team and outside of the team). The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is: $202,000.00 - $344,000.00 a year Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
