Full Job Description
We are hiring a Mechanical Superintendent to join our Capital Projects team in Houston, TX. The Superintendent position schedules, coordinates and supervises the activities of maintenance and construction workers and provides overall on-site administrative and technical management on maintenance or construction sites. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Site Manager or Project Manager; Establishes procedures for specific goals in a broad area of work / only results are reviewed / develops procedures within limits of policy and guidelines.

Functional Requirements:

Supervises total maintenance and/or construction effort to ensure project is constructed and/or maintained in accordance with design, budget, and schedule (includes interfacing with client representatives); plans, coordinates, and supervises on-site functions including scheduling, engineering, material control, etc.; provides technical assistance, such as interpretation of drawings, as required; assists project management in developing and implementing project procedures, standards, etc.; ensures all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, company standards, etc.; creates new policies and procedures or updates existing policies with plant or project management approvals; documents all violations, notifies project management, and recommends/implements corrective actions as required; assumes responsibility for productivity of employees, efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the job; interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations; analyzes and resolves work related problems; establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Qualification standards:
  • High school or equivalent
  • 10 plus years of dirt work experience; Landfill cell construction and closure experience is preferred
  • Valid drivers license
  • TWIC is preferred but not required
  • Experience operating heavy yellow iron equipment (EX: Excavators, Dozers, Off-road truck, etc.
  • Leadership capabilities/qualities
  • Experience managing people and crew
  • Strong safety performance

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction
  • Basic knowledge of all crafts

Compensation:

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

About Turner Industries

Turner Construction is an American construction company with presence in 20 countries. It is a subsidiary of the German company Hochtief. It is the largest domestic contractor in the United States as of 2020, with a revenue of $14.41 billion in 2020. Turner Construction was founded in New York City in 1902 by Henry Chandlee Turner. Its first project was a $690 concrete vault in Brooklyn, followed by concrete staircases for the New York City Subway. By the late 1920s, Turner was constructing buildings for large businesses in the United States. Turner's stock began trading on the American Stock Exchange in 1972. Turner's projects have included large buildings and numerous sports stadiums. Then, in 1999, Hochtief purchased Turner. In 2010s, the company was involved in a multi-year bid rigging scheme related to interior work at Bloomberg L.P. resulting in its then vice president Ronald Olson to plead guilty to federal charge of tax evasion on accepting $1.5 million in bribes from subcontractors and then project superintendent Vito Nigro to plead guilty to grand larceny. They were both also convicted of federal tax crime from this matter.
