Mechanical Senior Engineer-Data Center IT Rack Feasibility

Mechanical Engineering leads and delivers the development of innovative and compliant mechanical design solutions. Our team conducts feasibility studies and preliminary testing of mechanical products, instruments, and subassemblies for new products and technologies, interlocking with cross-functional downstream stakeholders.

What you'll achieve:

As a Mechanical Senior Engineer-Data Center IT Rack Feasibility, you will interpret technology collateral to create mechanical designs, conduct selective detailed analyses, and prepare test plans to validate function, reliability, and compliance. You will coordinate with downstream stakeholders to support product requirements during early feasibility investigations.

Responsibilities

You will:
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to develop innovative data center infrastructure and high-density rack solutions that meet customer, performance, and reliability requirements
  • Design and develop mechanical and thermal components for air- and liquid-cooled systems using 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools such as Creo or SolidWorks, including sheet metal, plastic, die-cast, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Lead component and subsystem design activities, including concept development, prototyping, testing, and design validation to ensure performance and manufacturability goals are achieved
  • Apply engineering analyses and simulation tools, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and interpret technical specifications, test data, and supplier documentation to drive informed design decisions
  • Collaborate with technology partners, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and tooling teams to create robust designs

Essential Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in electro-mechanical product development or equivalent skill
  • Experience designing mechanical systems and components from concept through validation, with knowledge of or experience in air and liquid cooling technologies for data center or IT infrastructure applications
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks, including the design of sheet metal, plastic, die-cast, and other manufactured components
  • Ability to interpret technical datasheets, engineering drawings, and product specifications, and apply sound engineering judgment to design decisions
  • Firm understanding of engineering analysis and simulation tools, including FEA, and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners throughout the product development lifecycle


Desired
  • Experience with thermal management components and rack-level cooling solutions for data centers
  • Experience designing high-density IT infrastructure, server, or rack-based hardware systems


Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $110,000-$150,700
