Mechanical Project Engineer

Reports to: Director of Engineering Department: Engineering

Job Summary:
The Project Engineer leads the design, development, application, and lifecycle management of a diverse portfolio of mechanical components and products. This role is responsible for managing projects from initial concept through full product lifecycle, including customer and supplier engagement, competitive analysis, testing, prototype development, and manufacturing integration.

This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Quality, and Procurement, combining technical engineering expertise with effective project management.

Essential Functions:
1) Lead projects through the full design phase and product lifecycle.
2) Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and key deliverables.
3) Communicate project status, proactively address risks and roadblocks, and ensure successful handoff to operations.
4) Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and oversee validation testing.
5) Serve as a subject matter expert in new product development and support continuous improvement of processes and best practices.
6) Maintain technical expertise in assigned product lines.
7) Partner with Sales to identify new opportunities and support existing programs; participate in trade shows as needed.
8) Utilize a scientific and data-driven approach to problem solving, including engineering analysis and statistical methods.
9) Evaluate design concept for feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and maintainability.
10) Develop performance specifications, technical documentation, and product manuals.
11) Lead cross-functional project teams including Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test Lab.
12) Define system components or modify designs to meet engineering and performance specifications.
13) Analyze data and trends to prepare reports and support decision-making.
14) Investigate product issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
15) Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
16) Deliver projects on time while meeting customer expectations.
17) Design and configure new products and systems.

Additional Responsibilities:
1) Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
1) Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
2) Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
3) Proven project management experience with successful product launches delivered on time and within budget.
4) Experience reading and interpreting standards such as ASME, ASTM, ISO, SAE etc.
5) Proficiency in SolidWorks (preferred).
6) PMP certification (plus).
7) 6 Sigma Black or Green belt (plus).
8) Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
9) High motivation and initiative.
10) Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
11) Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities.
12) Creative problem-solving skills.
13) High level of computer literacy, including CAD tools.
