PE-Frameworks Engineering is a dynamic and collaborative team that strives to work across the organization to deliver a best in class product to our customers. The Upfit Teams' goal is to be application experts and to tailor our proven platforms to meet the specialized customer requirements of the vocational market.

Chassis customization is a critical aspect of our Vocational products and Customer Experience. As an engineer on the PE - Frameworks Chassis Upfit team, you will fulfill custom chassis configuration requests for specific chassis components (ex: Air/Fuel/Def/Hydraulic Tanks, Battery/Tool boxes, Drivelines, Air Dryers, Cross-members) in support of specific truck applications (ex: Vacuum, Tanker, Dump, Mixer, Wrecker bodies and Heavy Haul Tractors) with the end goal of enabling customers to streamline their body upfit installation.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for understanding the needs of our vocational customers and turning them into a vehicle layout that meets their needs and supports industry leading upfit timing. Position offers a salary range of $86,000 to $110,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Work closely with Customer Application Engineering to understand our customers' chassis and packaging needs related but not limited to mid-chassis components and frame customizations.
  • Develop and execute solutions for customer and Truck Equipment Manufacturer requirements.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing to identify custom builds and address any issues that arise.
  • Develop minor new options related to area(s) of responsibility.
  • Support the team with preparation and maintenance of metrics and visual management.
  • Support senior engineers with configuration management and by providing solutions to enable acquisition of conquest business within assigned applications.


Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 2 - 4 years of related experience required.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to the needs of the Vocational team and customers.
  • Ability to effectively interface and communicate within the Vocational team, cross functionally, and with customers.
  • High level of proficiency expected in general office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Moderate level of proficiency expected in verbal and written skills, and in preparing and giving technical presentations.
  • Moderate level of proficiency with CAD systems (preferably NX) and Engineering documentation.
  • Entry level of proficiency with mid-chassis systems packaging. Ex: Drivelines, Air Systems, Fuel/Def Tanks, Battery/Tool boxes, Steps

Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Moderate level proficiency in mid-chassis system packaging. Ex: Drivelines, Air Systems, Fuel/Def Tanks, Battery/Tool Boxes
  • Moderate level proficiency in Daimler internal systems such as Imacs, Smaragd, ERS
  • Entry level proficiency in data analysis tools like Power Bi.
  • Entry level proficiency in VBA/Excel Macro programming
