Position OverviewWe are seeking aMechanical Plumbing Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and coordination of plumbing systems-including domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, fire protection, and specialty piping-for a range of projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional sectors. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to deliver innovative, code-compliant designs while working seamlessly within a multidisciplinary project team.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, fire protection, and specialty piping.
- Perform calculations for hydraulic systems, pipe sizing, pressure loss, flow rates, and equipment selection.
- Ensure compliance with plumbing codes, national standards, and green building requirements (e.g., IPC, NSPC, IFGC, ASPE, NFPA, LEED, WELL).
- Prepare detailed construction documents including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate design efforts with HVAC, electrical, structural, and architectural teams.
- Conduct site visits, field inspections, and assessments to ensure compliance with design intent and applicable codes.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs during the construction administration phase.
- Assist with technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in plumbing system design for commercial, industrial, healthcare, or institutional projects.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (IPC, NSPC, IFGC, ASPE, NFPA).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
- EIT or PE license preferred.
