Basic FunctionHF Sinclair Puget Sound Refining, located in Anacortes, WA is seeking a Mechanical Inspector. This role leads and conducts advanced inspection duties and assignments for the Mechanical Department under minimal supervision. May direct or lead the work of others and establish policy and practice. Acts as liaison with other departments within the refinery.
Job Duties- Approve pump repair plans per Pump Repair Standards.
- Approve variances to Pump Repair Standards as appropriate and provide follow through as needed to maintain minimum standards.
- Assist the machine shop by attending the scope meeting for equipment repairs with shop supervisor and machinists.
- Assist maintenance in troubleshooting equipment prior to planning repairs per repair standards.
- Provide technical direction to machinist millwrights as needed.
- MOC initiation and completion on minor machinery changes.
- Assist Machinery Engineer and Machine shop supervisor in performing quarterly audit shop repair reports
- Assist turnaround group with technical advice on upcoming work.
- Lead operations in regarding of troubleshooting and the correct practices of operation for rotating equipment.
- Assist in the ordering and verification of upgrade and specialty parts for machinery through coordination with the Machine Shop planner and Machinery Engineer.
- Submit Turbine OST deferrals for equipment not available due to maintenance reasons.
May also perform or be responsible for other duties, including:
- Accountable for safety and environmental programs within the MEI Department; HSSE impact of engineering design and repairs; involvement in targeted subgroups (e.g., EIC, BEST, JH&SC, etc.); leadership in HSSE initiatives (e.g., ISO 14001, BEST, safety meetings, etc.).
- Enter information from repair documentation into SAP and E-DOC when received and monitor rotating equipment repairs.
- Technical support to Production, Reactive Maintenance, Turnaround Maintenance, and Projects.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years experience as machinist millwright in a refinery or chemical manufacturing plant is required.
Education LevelA minimum of high school degree or equivalent is required.
Required SkillsAbility to lead and direct the work of other associates. Advanced knowledge of inspection methods and ability to apply this knowledge as it pertains to the company. Certifications in API-510, API-570, API-653, AWS CWI and ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II in RT, UT, MT, PT, VT may be required depending on location. Computer program familiarity with MS Office suite and data management programs in use within Inspection Department. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, advanced reading and writing skills, and with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
Supervisory/Managerial ResponsibilityMay be responsible for the supervision of contracted Inspectors and Technicians.
Work ConditionsOffice and field based with up to 5% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, and working in confined spaces. Subject to all temperatures, weather, and varying road conditions.

Salary Range: The salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values. A candidate's offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.
This position has a salary minimum of $94,500.00 and maximum of $164,500.00.
