Full Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineering Designer IV, you will lead complex mechanical engineering projects from concept through completion while helping clients and project teams translate goals into high-performing design solutions. You will bring deep technical expertise in mechanical systems, code applications, Revit, and AutoCAD to guide project documentation, design quality, and construction administration. You will also mentor engineering staff, collaborate across disciplines, and support Progressive Companies' commitment to Performance Based Design.

Deliver Results
• Develop high-quality mechanical engineering designs, specifications, and documentation that align with project goals, performance expectations, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead advanced construction administration activities, including RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, field observations, and coordination with project teams and contractors.
• Establish documentation standards and quality procedures to ensure engineering deliverables are accurate, consistent, and aligned with Progressive Companies' Performance Based Design principles.
• Provide technical expertise to project teams, clients, consultants, and governing agencies to support integrated, code-compliant mechanical engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Team Leads to define project scopes, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations for large-scale or complex initiatives.
• Lead the conceptualization and development of HVAC, energy, plumbing, fire protection, fuel/gas, and mechanical systems using emerging technologies, smart controls, and performance-driven strategies.
• Mentor engineering staff by serving as a subject matter expert, sharing lessons learned, and supporting the growth and technical development of team members.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years of post-graduation professional engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, project documentation, construction administration, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Expert-level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including fire, plumbing, mechanical, and fuel/gas code applications.
• Ability to lead complex project documentation reviews, field inspections, technical analyses, and stakeholder presentations.
• Strong ability to collaborate with clients, project managers, team leads, consultants, governing agencies, and internal project teams.

Preferred Qualifications
• Professional engineering licensure or progress toward relevant licensure.
• Experience leading mechanical engineering design for complex, multidisciplinary AEC projects.
• Experience developing energy models, performance simulations, HVAC systems, smart controls, and high-performance mechanical system strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
• Strong understanding of Performance Based Design principles and their application to engineering solutions.
