  • Conduct supplier oversight during the manufacturing installation and related inspections.
  • Review and revise technical drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Full Job Description
Leidos' Defense Systems is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineering Branch Manager for its hypersonics line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program (CHGB). The CHGB is the Army's #1 priority for strategic weapons capability for long-range precision fires and will counter and gain a lead on our adversaries' technological advances in this field, come join us in this exciting, cutting-edge field.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will serve as the Mechanical Engineering Branch Manager that will oversee and lead a team of analysts and designers for mechanical design of weapon system structures, components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies. Specific duties may encompass structural design, parts design, materials evaluation, requirements specification and source selection of missile components. Areas of responsibilities will include overseeing the documentation of mechanical designs as well as assembly, test equipment, and transport fixtures. The candidate will provide personnel to assist in preparation of RFP for component manufacturing, including parts management, quality, test requirements and documentation. The candidate will provide personnel to assist supplier surveillance during installation and inspection as well as review technical drawings and update/correct as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field from an ABET accredited school is required. Candidate should have 8 years of relevant experience. High School Diploma with 12 years of experience is acceptable as well. Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

  • Experience in requirements definition, design, development and test of hardware systems

  • Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • A background in DoD programs is required. Candidates must have good organizational skills and attention to detail, and work well in a team environment
  • Experience with Creo Elements/Pro (formerly Pro/ENGINEER)
  • Knowledge of missile mechanical structural systems including cast, forged and
    machined parts
  • Experience with environmental testing of missile components and related test equipment
  • Experience with compatible materials, fasteners, coatings, processes and assembly methods
  • Knowledge of ASME drawing standards
  • Organizational skills to document designs
  • Knowledge of Technical Data Packages (TDP) development
  • Experience managing a team of engineers
  • Must have experience supporting business development through marketing and generating proposals
  • Technical leadership of weapon system and architecture development tasks

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
