Leidos' Defense Systems is seeking a talented
Mechanical Engineer for its Hypersonics line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program (CHGB). The CHGB is the Army's #1 priority for strategic weapons capability for long-range precision fires and will counter and gain a lead on our adversaries' technological advances in this field, come join us in this exciting, cutting-edge field.
Primary Responsibilities. - Create and maintain Technical Data Package (TDP) artifacts, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Revise existing designs and develop new designs to enhance producibility and process efficiency.
- Collaborate within integrated product teams (IPTs) to support drawing updates and production efforts.
- Support production activities, including troubleshooting mechanical issues and assisting with corrective actions.
- Assist in dispositioning non-conformances and supporting root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Independently manage tasks and projects with guidance from senior engineers.
Basic Qualifications. - Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
- Experience working within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environments.
- Basic understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and configuration management processes.
- Experience supporting issue resolution in a production environment.
- Willingness to facilitate technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including design, peer, and tabletop reviews.
- Strong attention-to-detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications. - Active security clearance.
- Experience supporting DoD programs related to missile systems, reentry vehicles, or hypersonic technologies.
- Prior work in assembly, integration, or testing of missile systems.
- Experience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced engineering programs.
- Familiarity with AS9100 aerospace quality management systems.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Package (TDP) development.
- Experience creating engineering drawings using PTC Creo and managing data in Windchill.
- Understanding of cost, schedule, and programmatic impacts associated with engineering deliverables.

Pay Range:Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
