Full Job Description
TITLE: Mechanical Engineer

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and maintenance of our plastic manufacturing processes and equipment. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, a strong background in plastic manufacturing, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering within the plastic manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, molding processes, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and Development:
  • Design and develop new plastic manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for plastic products and machinery.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for new projects.


Process Optimization:
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes.


Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability.


Quality Assurance:
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for product defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.


Project Management:
  • Manage engineering projects from conception through completion.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Prepare and present project reports, including timelines, budgets, and progress updates.


Research and Innovation:
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in plastic manufacturing technology.
  • Conduct research to develop innovative solutions for manufacturing challenges.
  • Evaluate and recommend new materials, equipment, and technologies for adoption.
