MechanicalEngineer - (Industrial)

Location: Richland, WA

Pay Rate: $60hr - $75hr DOE

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Work Type: On-site

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineer to support industrial capital projects within a manufacturing environment. This is a design-forward role, not a project management position.

The ideal candidate is a true engineer and doer, actively involved in mechanical design, analysis, and execution, with the ability to contribute technically across the full project lifecycle, from early design through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on mechanical design and engineering for industrial facilities
  • Support projects across the full lifecycle, including pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning
  • Develop and review mechanical system designs, including HVAC, hydronics, and process piping
  • Prepare and review calculations, specifications, and engineering deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (ASME, ASME B31.3, ASHRAE, local building and fire codes)
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, construction, procurement) to execute design intent
  • Participate in field activities, inspections, and commissioning support
  • Identify design gaps, troubleshoot issues, and provide practical engineering solutions
  • Support coordination with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to project execution while remaining technically engaged


Job Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience performing mechanical design and analysis in industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience working as part of a project team focused on design and analysis, not just oversight
  • Strong background in MEP systems, including HVAC, hydronics, and process piping
  • Demonstrated ability to be hands-on in design, calculations, and technical problem-solving
  • Experience working on industrial capital projects
  • Strong understanding of engineering codes and standards (ASME, ASHRAE, etc.)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to obtain within 3 months


Preferred Qualifications
  • PE License (highly preferred) or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Experience in an owner's representative role
  • Background in steel structures, seismic design, and industrial frameworks
  • Ability to balance technical design work with project coordination
