Full Job Description
I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Directly responsible for the specification and design of all project's mechanical equipment for both stationary, rotating, and piping design.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops metallurgy for piping and mechanical equipment
  • Develops mechanical data sheets prepared in conjunction with Mechanical Engineers and the Process Engineering group
  • Develops piping stress analysis utilizing Caesar software
  • Works in conjunction with the piping group and suggests modifications to piping routing to reduce piping stress to acceptable levels
  • Develops "Request for Quote" documentation
  • Develops bid tabs and makes recommendations to the client for the purchase of mechanical equipment
  • Develops mechanical engineering standards for use on capital projects
  • Performs calculations for vessel design re-rating, nozzle loading, pump sizing, including motor horsepower and NPSH
  • Writes "scope of work" documents for mechanical/piping design plans


III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5-10 years' experience specifying and designing mechanical equipment for both stationary and rotating
  • Currently licensed in at least one US State as a Professional Mechanical Engineer
  • Thorough and detailed knowledge of all mechanical equipment - pumps, heat exchangers, air coolers, furnaces, vessels, towers, tower internals, etc. for the petroleum industry sector
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Experienced in developing and managing schedules and budgets for engineering/design work
  • Familiarity with API, ANSI, ASME, and NFPA codes
  • Available for short-term travel


IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:

Reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager

V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift to 40 pounds at times
• Periodic field work
