Mechanical Engineer G/ATOR Mechanical Engineer in Virginia Beach, VA at NSWC PHD VB Det. YOU MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE DOD SECRET CLEARANCE Position Description: The USMC AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering development, and technical/acquisition support. The position will perform engineering reviews and/or studies of engineering designs that support system performance, functionality, maintenance, operation, and reliability throughout the system's lifecycle. Responsibilities and Duties: • Perform engineering analyses or studies of mechanical designs and maintenance plans for new systems and develop redesigns for resolving deficiencies with existing systems. • Develop long range maintenance strategies for Ground Air Task Oriented Radar (GATOR) Radar Systems • Evaluate mechanical designs such that they contribute to overall system effectiveness and suitability. • Evaluate system design and provide analysis and recommendation regarding life cycle support, i.e. including development, production, maintenance, operation; and including material support for production and fielded systems. • Develop Analysis of Alternatives of mechanical designs • Develop and deliver technical briefings to senior engineers and program managers. • Develop technical drawings for any engineering changes assigned. Required Qualifications and Skills: • Engineering experience in the acquisition and fielding of DOD systems • In Service Engineering (ISEA) Experience with fielded DOD systems • Experience with Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) processes in identifying problems, analyzing root cause, and evaluating alternative solutions and implementation. • Experience performing mechanical engineering studies and performing analysis of alternatives. • Experience authoring technical drawings. • Skills/experience preparing and delivering engineering briefs and presentations. Other Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university • Minimum active Secret Clearance Desired Qualifications and Skills: • Three years or more experience in DOD acquisition and In Service Engineering (ISEA) • Three years or more experience with Surveillance Radars, including AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR Radar or equivalent experience with Phased Array Radar Systems. • Three years or more experience with performing engineering tasks in support of Surveillance Radar system design, development, documentation, and laboratory testing. Travel Requirements: • Estimated up to 30% travel, All CONUS locations, including USMC Shore Sites, Test Sites, and USMC Unit Locations (i.e. Quantico, VA, San Diego, CA, Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, Ft. Sill, OK, Yuma, AZ, White Sands, NM). The pay range for this role is: 99,000 - 114,000 USD per year (NSWC PH VB Det)
