This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Irvine, CA.

This role is ideal for a developing engineer with experience across sectors such as commercial, higher education, multi-family residential, and civic projects, who is looking to grow technically within a collaborative and design-focused environment.

Your Impact
  • Support mechanical engineering design and technical delivery across a diverse portfolio including commercial, higher education, multi-family residential, and civic projects
  • Assist in the design of HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, and building systems
  • Contribute to project delivery across all phases, including design, documentation, and construction support
  • Analyze and interpret site conditions, drawings, and technical data to support engineering solutions
  • Prepare and support development of technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery
  • Participate in client and internal project meetings as needed


Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems
  • Exposure to projects in commercial, higher education, multi-family, or civic sectors
  • Foundational understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
  • Experience supporting projects through design phases and into construction
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or on track to obtain
  • Familiarity with local codes and jurisdiction requirements (California preferred)
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Interest in sustainability and high-performance building design (LEED or similar exposure)

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $94,400 - $135,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
