Full Job Description
Arconic is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Aluminum Extrusion business unit in Chandler, AZ. Profile: The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for capital improvements and assisting with production uptime. Essential Functions: The Mechanical Engineer requires technical and interpersonal skills essential to teamwork. Major duties include but are not limited to: - Working closely with production and maintenance to upgrade existing equipment, perform repairs, and install new machinery. - Supporting the day-to-day operations by acting as a resource for skilled trades and contracted services. - General duties for the Mechanical Engineer include but are not limited to: - Providing high-level technical assistance to production/maintenance personal during both planned and unplanned equipment service interruptions, including after-hours or weekends. - Applying root cause problem solving (troubleshooting) techniques to find and eliminate sources of recurring equipment failures through creative, cost-effective solutions. - Working with other plant departments to identify, investigate feasibility, and/or create business cases to acquire funding for capital projects. - Managing capital projects from conception to commissioning, startup, and handover phases, including equipment supplier/contractor selection and BU level procurement interaction. - Developing and maintaining technical documentation (drawings, preventative maintenance procedures, start-up/shutdown procedures, etc.) for new and existing processes and procedures in the assigned work area. - Observing and supporting plant safety goals and initiatives. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: - Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution - A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting - Troubleshooting experience in an industrial setting - Proficient in 2D/3D modeling software, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, or other applicable modeling software - Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. 730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology. Preferred Qualifications: - 4+ years of industry experience in a manufacturing environment - Proven organizational, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills - Experience managing capital projects - Experience with industrial robots About the Team Lafayette Operations in Lafayette, IN is located approximately 60 miles from the state's capital, Indianapolis and is the home to Purdue University. Our Lafayette location has been continuously running in Lafayette community since 1938. We are an Aluminum Extrusions plant for Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial and Defense facility.
