THE ROLE:Join a dynamic and inventive mechanical engineering team where you'll be directly involved in designing, analyzing, and validating advanced hardware platforms for AI computing, data center, and client systems. Your contributions will center on developing mechanical components and assemblies, conducting FEA and structural analysis, and supporting validation efforts to ensure outstanding product reliability and performance. To achieve so, you'll interact regularly with teams focused on silicon design, board engineering, validation, manufacturing, as well as leaders within AMD, our customers, and partners.
This role is perfect for an engineer enthusiastic about tackling complex server and rack-level challenges, such as optimizing force-saving features, ensuring high-speed connector engagement, advancing liquid cooling and connection technologies, creating floating mechanisms, and refining structures to meet rigorous transportation shock and vibration tests. You'll enjoy a balance in your workdays: splitting your time between hands-on lab work, running validation tests, and diving into CAD design and optimization. The position offers a rewarding mix of technical depth and creative problem-solving, with plenty of opportunity to see your ideas move from concept to real-world impact.
This is an onsite role based in Secaucus, NJ.
THE PERSON:You have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools. You bring working knowledge of structural analysis using industry-standard FEA tools and are motivated to apply these skills to real-world product development challenges.
You possess the ability to create a robust testing strategy that effectively validates system-level designs, even when working with limited data. With a keen eye for detail, you quickly assess complex issues, pinpoint their root causes, and apply targeted design optimizations to boost performance across the board.
You are a collaborative team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to interpret results and translate them into practical design improvements in a fast-paced engineering environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The mechanical development engineer plays a pivotal role in launching innovative designs from the ground up, working hand in hand with OEM and ODM partners to turn initial concepts into detailed blueprints and rapidly produce mockups for early-stage testing. Success in this position is defined by the ability to foresee potential product hurdles, implement cost-effective design strategies, and meticulously plan testing to identify and resolve any concerns. At every stage of production, the engineer continuously refines designs to enhance performance while diligently meeting all project deadlines.
