SummaryThis position is responsible for working on assigned Aerospace Lavatory design and modification activities in the engineering department utilizing established modeling and design standards. The Lavatory Design Engineer will support design and development of engineering packages based on customer and OEM requirements for production, retrofit applications and product development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:
- Design of commercial aircraft lavatories, including lavatory structures and mechanical systems (air, water, waste).
- Modification of existing lavatories, including lavatory interior design changes and exterior modifications and provisioning.
- Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable FAA, EASA, and customer-specific requirements
- Support structural, flammability, safety, and certification activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including stress, manufacturing, certification, quality, supply chain, and program management.
- Research and evaluate existing lavatory designs.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical solutions to engineering challenges.
- Support prototype development, testing, and qualification activities.
- Resolve production and in-service issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Manage engineering changes, design updates, and configuration control processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on weight reduction, cost optimization, manufacturability, and passenger experience.
- Actively support engineering department goals and initiatives.
- Utilize internal drawing/document standards per customer or regulatory agency requirements.
- Some domestic or international travel may be required.
- Provide mentoring and performance management input to Functional Manager.
- Perform engineering projects workscope review and project time estimates. Support project RFQ activities including task and time estimates.
- Act as design authority for design tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities This job may have some supervisory responsibilities when acting in the role of Lead Engineer and as delegated by the Functional Manager.

RequirementsEducation and/or Experience- BS degree Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related Engineering field and 5 years or more of experience or equivalent working experience (15 years minimum in an aerospace related field).
- 5 to 8 years of experience in commercial aircraft Lavatory design.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks
Moderate travel within the U.S. and abroad may be required to support JAMCO America programs.
Language Skill- Ability to read and interpret documents such a safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers of employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
