Job Overview & Responsibilities

This engineering position is responsible for developing designs for Mechanical Ground Support Equipment for our Launch complexes at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Space Force Bases. Key responsibilities include:
  • Create models and produce/release drawings used for fabrication. Designs shall be optimized for manufacturing, producibility, and usability
  • Work with ULA subcontract administration and manufacturers through fabrication, test and acceptance
  • Support first use of hardware to ensure proper installation and processing
  • Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites
  • Perform preliminary strength calculations before engaging Strength team for final buy off

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university
  • Proficient with CAD software, preferably NX
  • Proficient in drawing standards and experience with GD&T
  • Experienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work experience on projects in which integration between different engineering disciplines occurred (e.g. structural, electrical, test, analysis)
  • Able to work independently to determine and develop solutions to a variety of engineering problems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing to turn designs into hardware
  • Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites or vendors. Must possess a valid driver's license to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with Mechanical ground systems and strength analysis
  • Experience with welded steel and aluminum structures
  • Familiarity with machine shop practices
  • Teamcenter, MS vOffice, and MS Project experience


Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver, ULA - Cape Canaveralonly): $90,453.00 - $150,754.00
