Job Overview & ResponsibilitiesThis engineering position is responsible for developing Mechanical Ground Support Equipment designs for our Launch complexes at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Space Force Bases. Key responsibilities include:
- Create models and produce/release drawings used for fabrication. Designs shall be optimized for manufacturing, producibility, usability, and safety
- Work with ULA subcontract administration and manufacturers through fabrication, test and acceptance
- Support first use of hardware to ensure proper installation and processing
- Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites
Required EducationBachelor
Required Years of ExperienceMinimum of 2 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university
- Proficient with CAD software, preferably NX
- Understanding of drawing standards and GD&T
- Experienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environment
- Work experience on projects in which integration between different engineering disciplines occurred (e.g. structural, electrical, test, analysis)
- Ability to work under general supervision to determine and develop solutions to a variety of engineering problems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites or vendors. Must possess a valid driver's license to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
- Familiarity with mechanical ground systems and strength analysis
- Experience with welded steel and aluminum structures
- Familiarity with machine shop practices
- Teamcenter, MSOffice, and MS Project experience
- Proficiency with drawing standards and GD&T
